Current Events > Hypothetical: Aliens abduct you and tell you to kill another man to survive.

You're walking along the street one day when suddenly you don't feel right. You start to feel weary and then realize you're being abducted by aliens before you pass out.

When you come too you're in a white circular arena with one way screens on the walls. You discover the timing of your awakening is no accident as another man, a big Black British man called Wesley has been abducted with you. He has also just come too but seems to have more energy than you.

There is also a pedestal in the middle of the room with a loaded gun resting upon it.

A synthetic voice that sounds like a computerized translation of another language into yours booms through the arena saying "We are observing Chamber 37B. There is an Earth weapon in the center of this chamber. One of you must eliminate the other. Whoever succeeds will be safely returned to your planet. You must proceed immediately."

Wesley shouts "Hey! We ain't doing shit! Take me home."

The translated voice says "If you do not comply with instructions we will terminate you both and it will be extraordinary painful. There is no need for you both to expire and slowly when only one you has to end and end quickly."

Wesley says "Yo we're not gonna hurt cuz you told us to! We're not like that! Jesus ain't say that, we're not going to do nothing bruv!"

The voice says "This is your last oppotunity. It is needless for you both to perish. You have 57 of your Earth seconds to comply. One of you can still-"

Wesley interupts "I don't sweat you! I don't sweat you bruv! Do your worst! we ain't like dat!"

You then look to the right and see through a slip that next door 2 human females were in the same experimental predicament, except one is now dead on the ground and the other is holding a gun. The living one is then transported back to Earth.

You then look to the left through another slip and see another arena with the same scenario only the gun is still on the pedestal and there are two barely recognizable human corpses on the floor with expressions of utter agony on what was once their faces while steam rises from the bodies.

Wesley has his back to you as he's yelling at one of the walls.



What would you do?

Would you shoot another man in the back to survive?
Or would you refuse and then both you and he die anyway slowly in pain? Unknown and forgotten, your disapperance a mystery to your family.

I would tell them they have Universe Renowned Celebrity "British Black Man Wesley" prisoner and they would immediately set us free and give a healthy amount of compensation so we don't speak about it.

So wesley gets beamed back to earth with no knowledge to share with others unless he wants to relay the only stuff he knows; abducted, yelled at aliens through a wall, heard a guy suicide 5 feet away.

The "coward's way out" is lack of thought on your part.

Where as "Abducted, saw a guy yell at a wall and then shot him." is much better.

I'd do it. It's not much different than someone holding a gun to your head telling you to execute someone else. I have no particular control over the situation, and unless I love the person I'm set to kill, there's no way I'd value their life over mine. If I won, I'd surly have PTSD over it for the rest of my life though.

I'd look at Wesley and say "Dude. We're doing this. If you don't wanna defend yourself, that's on you."

It's up to him how it works out from there.
