It was implemented a while ago actually. I switched back to old reddit because I prefer it, but occasionally I'll click on something and it will go to new reddit. Pretty annoying.

What? I was there just a few days ago, and semi-regularly for a lot of this year. The new design never come up.

It wasn't even a full redesign though. They changed the page view to a Facebook-like feed format but the comment section is still a goddamn mess.
