Thoughts on them? Good or bad?

I've seen them all at least once, and I might buy some in the near future, but obviously I'm looking for really good films, and they should be as rewatchable as possible (it's not unusual for me to watch a great film 10 or 20 times).

Goldeneye

Wasn't this the early/mid 90's one? I saw it in theaters. But that was a long time ago and I was a little kid so I don't remember much. I vaguely remember this dude who kept saying "I am invincible!" and some sweeping shot of a dam but that's it. And I might be confusing it with Mission Impossible. Anyway, I can't stand Bond in general.

Spectre
SiREN
Suzanne

Never seen them.

The Force Awakens

Loved it. Complaints that it was too similar too the OT kinda smelled of woosh. It was intentional (obviously), topical, and iroically very creative. It's important to remember the context of the discontent between millennials and boomers and the fact that it came out 40 years after ANH. Though it wasn't really obvious what they were doing until the end (they teased it with Vader's helmet), Kylo's sudden character development right at the end confirmed that it was going to be the bait for the upcoming switch that would be episode 8.

The Last Jedi

And while I won't give Johnson credit for delivering (seems like the new director got wooshed just as hard), 8 kinda stumbled into doing what 7 set up in that regard. But the film was mediocre overall. Had a boring premise and way too much filler but managed a few really good scenes here and there that were unfortunately cancelled out (and then some) by a ood many really bad scenes.

Three Billboards
The Shape of Water
La La Land
To The Devil A Daughter
The Quiet Ones
Brewster McCloud
The Gingerbread Man
Splice
First Reformed

Nevetlr seen them

Bohemian Rhapsody

Never seen it. Queen is my favorite band ever but Brian was the best member. Anyway, never cared for celebrity biographies, and given the Hollywood treatment I would no doubt find it infuriating since I actually know a little about Freddy's bio anyway.

Daisies

Never seen it

Temple of Doom

Wasn't a bad film. Weakest of the trilogy but had a lot of fun scenes in it and I really like the climax.

Thank you, DevsBro, finally, a proper response. I expected there would be plenty of films on that list, that a random person on CE wouldn't have seen.

But wtf @ your vague memories of Goldeneye. I thought all millennials knew the Brosnan films pretty well. You seen very fuzzy on it. I know all 4 films really well, and most of them I've seen at least 10 times. Sadly, I only saw TMD and TWINE at the cinema.

Hacksaw Ridge was overall a good movie, but it felt kind of manipulative/oscar-baity to me.
Force Awakens was okay.
Last Jedi was boring.

I've seen Saving Private Ryan and Golden Eye once, but i don't remember them, it was along time ago for both.

Haven't seen the rest. (I don't watch a ton of movies)

Metropolis

I don't think I commented on these yet.

Only one I've seen is Metropolis, and you'll have to forgive me for gushing here but it RULED.

You kinda have to expect that a movie filmed 91 years ago in Germany that still manages to maintain relevance had a lot of good stuff going on and it definitely does. Applying the concept of the story of Job to class warfare was something I never would have thought of but it totally works. It plays both sides of the concept fairly--both human in the good and the bad ways--and notes that God's mediator descended to us and not the other way around. In addition to great thematic content, it has killer directing (the machine scene in particular), special effects decades ahead of their time, plenty of excellent emotive work from the actors (Freder in particular), believable character development and realy good music. 10/10 film.

That would make a good batch of films to buy. Lots of good films, and it's a really nice mix. About half are main stream, about half are indie. A nice mix of countries, as well. 5 American, 1 British, 2 French, 1 Czech, and 1 Russian.

Perhaps it could do with some more indie stuff, though.

It's a shame, those films I've never been able to get. Moon in the Gutter, which I've wanted to watch for years, wasn't ever released on DVD or Blu-Ray (I don't think so, anyway). HealtH apparently never got any home release, which is sad.

Then, of course, there are those films which are needlessly expensive to buy.

I just looked at those 10 films I listed in post 26, and most of them were regular prices on DVD. About 7 for most of them. Daisies was about 12, though, and also, First Reformed was about 12 too, for some reason. I wouldn't let that stop me from buying FR, but probably Daisies.

Thoughts on those films?

Why? That film was actually pretty boring. I mean, I really like French films, and I really like experimental films, but that wasn't very entertaining to watch.

It's no Eraserhead, or Synecdoche, New York.

Goldeneye - pretty good
Spectre - just OK
The Force Awakens - growing on me
The Last Jedi - the worst good Star Wars movie
The Shape of Water - interesting, not my favorite Del Toro though
La La Land - just OK
Daisies - kind of weird if it's the Czech movie
Temple of Doom - not a huge fan. The other two OT Indy films are better.
Three Colours: Blue - GOAT territory
Three Colours: Red - GOAT of the GOAT territory
Three Colours: White - GOAT territory
Saving Private Ryan - really good, likely lost BP because of a vote split with Thin Red Line
