You know, it's funny. I was a 90s kid, and by the end of the 90s, when they were becoming a thing, I was 16 years old, but I never touched the books, and don't recall any of my friends talking about them. I think I was born just about late enough to have been in the age range that was reading them, but I never really cared one way or the other. Saw the films like most people, of course.

No, but I do find it rather strange

The first book came out in 1997 when I was 14 years old, but I didn't know about the book series until I was 17 or 18 when the movie was first coming out.

However, Harry Potter is older than I am. He was born in 1980 and I was born in 1983

I was in high school when HP came out, so no. I didn't grow up with it.

i tried reading the first book but couldn't get into it. Did watch all the movies though.

Even if my parents hadn't bought into the idea that it was evil (just like pokemon), I just never found any appeal in the concept of a wizard boarding school.

I did watch a couple of the movies when it turned out to be the most successful thing ever but even those were firmly good not great.

Now Pokemon, I did manage to get my hands on. Until I wouldn't trade with a kid on the bus and he screamed out "he has pokemon cards," resulting in their confiscation.

I tried reading the first book when I was a kid but it was awful.

I read the first 3 1/2 books when I was 10 but then my mom saw the fourth book in my bag and I got in trouble because she said Harry Potter books were demonic and evil

I was going into 8th grade when the first 3 books were out in America and it started to get popular. So I wouldn't say I grew up with them, but I was really hyped for the releases of books 4 onward.

i read the first book back when it came out and really enjoyed it, but while i was at school my mom went into my room, found the book and trashed it because she thought harry potter was satanic & evil lol. i was never allowed to read the rest or see the movies and now i think im too old to get into it

I read the first two when they came out in high school, then I stopped reading them when I got to college.

I picked up the box set a couple of months ago and read through them all, so I read the bulk of them as an adult.
