Very few people endure past that.

I mean, historians and experts on the relevant subjects know who they were, but not the general public. There is occasionally someone so famous that they are still generally known, hundreds of years after their deaths. I would say these people generally fall into 2 categories: politicians and religious leaders.

It's disturbing. Even if you do amazing things in your life, and are largely known, respected and appreciated, you just disappear into obscurity just a few decades after your death. It makes you wonder what the point in trying "to make something of yourself" is.
