And was gone for about 4 hours.

Nothing was stolen AFAIK, as my petty cash was still on the counter and the safety tape wasn't broken...

But this is a first for me. I'm in self-doubting regret mode

No the cash is just on the counter, the safety tape is under the door.

Super?

Also, its not like every time someone leaves their door unlock, people break in. Sometimes, they do. Other times, they break in whether its locked on not.

Well, it woulda been weird to use non-platonic platitudes.

I'm also in a very safe place, so the risk of robbery is low... but I've never slipped even once in 20 years.

Safety tape under the door? Do you put tape on your door when leave so you can tell if someone opened your door while you were away? That seems super paranoid.

He learned it from the Bond films in one of them James puts a string over a certain section of his hotel room and it gets broken so he knows someone is hiding in his hotel room.

Obviously master assassins are after TC also.

I literally havent locked my apartment door once for the past two years. The complex itself has a lock though, but you can easily just jump over the fence into the complex.

I am a paranoid person. But it's not like it's a fresh piece of tape every time, it's just two pieces of tape to form a flap... if the door has been opened, the flap is raised, otherwise it's curved.

So you haven't realized that the people stalking you already know about your tape trick and just replace it when they leave your apartment?

That's ok, if they find the Death Note the entire building will burn down.

After coming home and finding I'd left the door unlocked all night long, I replaced all the locks with Schlage keypad locks. You punch in a code to unlock the door, ten seconds later it automatically locks itself again. Never have to worry about leaving the door unlocked.

Plus I can give each roommate their own key code and when they move out, I just delete their code and they're locked out for good.

Nah man just booby trap the door if someone opens it when you are gone boom they get a shotgun blast in the face. This is the BEST way to prevent people from getting into your apartment or house when gone.
