It can't beat the original version, but it's a satisfying trip down nostalgia lane.

The story is of course very similar to the cartoon version. Some parts were condensed from the original version while other small parts from the cartoon were expanded. There's also a lot of funny new jokes.

One thing I hated was the voice of Iago. The original voice actor, Gilbert Gottifried is the character. The bird was missing a lot of the fun he had in the original cartoon.

Surprisingly, Will Smith did a really good job.

In fact, Smith's version of Friend Like Me is one of the best parts of the film.

The movie is worth the 7 or 8 bucks you'll spend if you like Disney movies or even want to revisit Aladdin and get a new take to the old classic.

I just saw it tonight, was honestly much better than I was expecting.

Well when I went there were a lot of kids so it's introducing kids to something I liked when I was little. Plus it has enough new scenes and music to keep me satisfied.

In short, don't like it, don't watch it.

Yeah I think Will Smith did the Genie well enough to differentiate and separate his from Robin William's.

I guess that's true. There's always the potential for introducing a story to a new audience.

I would've figured that most kids would've seen Aladdin at some point though. The "I won't watch something made before I was born" attitude usually doesn't kick in until a person is in their teens.
