I order a hardcover book only to get a paperback version of it. The email even says so. Honestly, this is getting old. Wouldn't be a problem except I'm trying to get all of a certain series in hardcover. Kinda annoying.

I apologize for being "that guy" but was it Amazon that shipped the order or a third party vendor that sold the book via Amazon but shipped it themselves? I know Amazon is not free of fault but most errors I tend to notice are from third party vendors.

On the plus side, at least Amazon will cover the cost of shipping to return it. A hassle on your part but at least at minimal/no cost.

Also, complain. Theyll pay for the return and probably give you some extra for the hassle.

I wonder if they're still as generous as before. A third party vendor once shipped me a fake Kindle case despite listing it as a used Kindle case. Amazon processed the refund, paid for the shipping, and gave me $30 or 40 in credit to buy a case. I kinda had to force them to reduce it down to $10 as I felt the fault was entirely on the vendor's end and not on Amazon. Giving me store credit is just a bandage treatment. I'd rather they only work with vendors that are honest about what they sell.

What does the email say? That youre supposed to get the hard or soft cover?

The email said it was a hardcover edition. Already complained, waiting to hear back.

I know it's the vendor's issue but I really think if Amazon can't organize hardcover editions and paperback editions of the same book properly, then it's a problem.

If there's a barcode on the back of the book that starts with X, it's a 3rd party
If there's no label, it's Amazons
