The landlord says she thinks the apartment is too small for 3 people... It's a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom. We don't think it's too small; she stays over a lot as it, it's fine.

What do you think is the landlord's main concern? The only reason she gave is that the apartment is too small for 3 adults. Isn't that our call? We offered to pay a bit more in rent if she moves in so let's see what she says...

We may end up doing it even if it's not official but the problem is if the downstairs tennants see her too often they might say something, that's why we're trying to make it above board

Also, is there a law that stipulates your landlord has to approve of someone else living there if you're still on the l3ase, cause if not, they can suck it and you're allowed to do what you wish.

I never really assumed that I could just... have someone live with me and them not be on the lease. That seems illegal? If the lease doesn't directly stipulate that, then I can just have as many people as I want live here? It doesn't seem right but then again I don't know what I'm talking about. The lease is back at my parent's place so I'll look it over soon

I mean, I'm from Montreal, so we probably have a different system, but here, you can have as many people as you want living there with only one human on the lease. It's dangerous though, as if they all jump ship, the person who's name is on the lease is getting fucked.

I always had my gf live with me. Didn't say a word to anyone about it, we were together and that was my place. She lived there too, we lived in 4 different places over the course of 10 years and only once were we both on the lease.

My friend once rented an apartment to an innocent-looking elderly couple.

Within days, 10 or so people moved in. It was absolute chaos. Most of them were undocumented. Neighbors called the cops many times because of the noise.

Eventually they left. The apartment had like 10k worth of damage.

*shrugs* when I got married my wife moved into my apartment I was renting at the time, didn't change my lease or anything.

But I dunno the lease could stipulate that you can't have over a certain number of people, but I'd think 3 in a 2 bedroom is perfectly reasonable.
