I mean the last season ended with her character basically boiling over with rage and determination to get her daughter back and upend Gileads insane system of rule which was awesome

Eight episodes in though and it seems like that has been totally squandered. I know her character could face consequences for going against the rules but it just seems like episode after episode has her faced with some terrible choice and she continues to choose seething but quiet compliance.

Its made worse by the fact that there keep being moments where it really seems like she is going to make some symbolic stand. She was live on air with the waterfords and she just stood there stewing. She could have broken the vase behind her or quickly shouted some plea for help. Then there was the execution by hanging that the handmaids were tasked to do that harkened back to the stonings of the first season. That really seemed like a time that she could have done something and she even had made a symbolic stand against that kind of thing before.

To me it's just more of the same. This season basically reset her character and now she has to wait for another opportunity to present itself. It is getting a bit tedious, and I'm tired of watching her facial expression alternate between bitter anger and sly grin. Hopefully things pick up in the next couple episodes. Isn't it based on a book? They must be running out of source material soon.

I couldn't even bring myself to finish the first season. To be honest, I was always on the fence with it, but it really jumped the shark hard with the introduction of the Jezebel club Suspension of disbelief became impossible.

But why? It seems plausible to me that such a place would exist within this sort of society. So what about it do you object to?

It isn't at all though? Like they make it out to be this huge secret, which doesn't work at all within the context of the world they've already built up. Guys WOULD talk about it, and since "religious purity" is the cornerstone of this society, the whole movement would basically crumble instantly. It's too much.

I'd say the "religious purity" thing is more about governance and ritual than anything else. It's clearly a facade waiting to crumble. Only men have power in this society and they're always breaking the rules.

They have 10 seasons planned. The creative drought is already showing. Why ruin something by trying to stretch it out beyond its limit.

They totally ruined June's character development like what the fuck @ EP 7 I'm looking at you

Episode 8 I honestly laughed when Lydia hit that authoritarian turning point and changed her hair subtlety what's that

Have you watched the older movie?
