The combat seemed like they forgot to implement defensive mechanics. It was all focused on the offensive stuff: cancels, combos, chains... but not a single defensive thing other than "run to get the potions that spawn in the most inconvenient of places".

Made the combat pretty meaningless. You either had the stats to beat the math or you didn't.

I didnt expect to dislike that game, but it really did a good job of making me hate it on several levels.

I feel like the odd one out here, lol.

Combat feels so good in 2 to me, but admittedly it takes far too long to get to that point. But 2's peak in combat is better than 1's peak in combat, IMO.

I hate what I've played and it convinced me not to buy it

I was frustrated with the game because I could feel the combat getting more interesting all the time, but not quickly enough to overcome the rest of the game's grind.

tbf, the first one had huge glaring flaws with the party member AI, so much that one of my characters literally would neglect to heal me in a big boss fight and I had to make her lead just to beat the boss.
