It's kind of baffling how Temple of Doom just thoroughly irritates me from start to finish; I can't remember a time when I genuinely enjoyed watching it. I guess it just changed up Raider's formula too much; no Nazis, traded a tough cookie love interest for a shrieking damsel, one long slow trek instead of globe-hopping. The relic didn't have to come from Christian mythology to be cool or interesting, but the Sankara Stones just didn't bear that sense of containing a power far, far beyond the comprehension of the heroes and villains vying for it. --- Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read. <cite>masterpug53 posted [p:924836849] in Raiders of... Temple of Doom is good for comedy and feel-good moments, but has hardly any action or adventure outside of the tank sequence. That's what Indiana Jones movies are about first and foremost. Adventure first, humor second. Temple of Doom got that order reversed. It's legitimately hard to find anything good to say about Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
