Southern coast has some decent sized towns and a small city. Bar harbor/Acadia national Park is halfway up the coast.
Besides that it's trees, the occasional mountain. I would consider Vermont to be more remote considering your definition. Vermont is truly nothing. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

Southern Maine has some nice towns and cities. Northwest Maine is actually Canada and Northeast Maine is as racist as the southern states.
