Bump for today. Poor Cyric is in a pickle, waffling over whether to get in as hard as possible on the guide for Yakuza 3 versus continuing Three Houses, which is just starting to pick up (near the end of Part 1).

Since my Wednesdays at work are super boring, I'll likely be spending it working on the guide. Easier to do so when A) you've already got a bunch of Yakuza guides, and B) it's a game you've already played.

Gotta love how Y3 just gets rid of Kaoru Sayama. "We just realized that Kiryu isn't as great a character when he actually has a significant other as opposed to being a grim loner, so off to America goes Sayama, where she'll be written out of the series!"

Even the Profiles chart shows their relationship as "Mutual Understanding". lol

Yeah, the cabaret club stuff was weird. Instead of going to the club and talking to the ladies, they just appeared in spots where you would date them after agreeing to do so. So basically you'd find dolled-up ladies hanging round the burger restaurant, you'd approach them and they'd ask to go out with you. Weirdest thing ever. Also, they cut one of the hostesses in the PS3 Western release for whatever reason, maybe because her progress involved one of the cut minigames.

Shogi and Mahjong are in the game after having been cut, as well as any substories that reference them.

I really liked Yakuza 0 but I have very little interest in playing the others. Like I'm sure they'll all have their own charms and fun stuff but I just feel like the combat isn't amazing enough to sink the same time into each of them and that there's a real possibility of big diminishing returns on the series

That's fine.

The collection is really for people who missed out the first go-round, really loved 0, Kiwami, and Kiwami 2, and wanted to complete the story of the games before finishing with 6.

Gameplay is like two iterations back, and a lot of the minigames are found in more recent games, anyway.

That said, if you want to play the real golf minigame, gotta do it in 3 or 4. :)
