This is nothing compared to the McDonalds Batman Returns deal.
McDonalds believed that it would be a family friendly movie and promoted it in that way, turning every McDonalds restaurant in USA into Gotham City.
The movie got released and... well... seeing Michelle Pfeiffer shoved out of a skyscraper, Christopher Walken get electrocuted to death, or Danny DeVito bite the tip off someone's nose made a lot of parents angry over how normally kidfriendly McDonalds could promote it.
Tim Burton basically got fired for it.
