You have a bunch of friends you feel close to at school. Eventually, you go down some seperate path to them, and lose contact. Eventually, maybe a decade later, you bump into them at some social event. You're thrilled. Back in the day, you loved these guys (and girls). You go up to them, ask them how they are, what have they been up to, etc. None of them recognise you. Even after repeatedly telling them your name, where you knew them from, and relaying many anecdotes of your time together to jog their memories.

How do you feel? What do you do next?

I wouldn't even bother repeatedly telling them my name and if they're not convinced after like two anecdotes max then I'd also just end the conversation there with a "was great seeing you again anyways. Later!" or steer it back to "oh well, so what've you been up to anyways?"
