I like 8 Eyes, even though it's considered a bad Castlevania

Maybe it's just because I played it when I was a little kid, but I think Fester's Quest is a good game. I don't see why it's hated so much.

I have no idea, I had like 5 games for Nintendo, SMB1/2/3 and Turtles 1/2 and plus I was a Genesis kid.

Edit: Maybe Crash N The boyz: Street Challenge? I just remembered I still have it lulz, it's in the closet with a nintendo, I should bust it sometime and have a playtrough.

I always liked 10-Yard Fight on NES. All of my friends thought it was garbage, since Tecmo Bowl was an option.

This tbh.

I guess Zelda II? Everyone seems to rag on it, but I don't even think it's in the bottom 3 games of the series. Definitely better than the original Legend of Zelda. Deal with it.

I kinda agree.

But I guess for people who don't know what's bad on the NES/SNES... is it because, like, you're 25 and under or something and I'm just out of touch?

I'm 27, which is still too young to have really appreciated the NES/SNES days, and I know Aaantlion/Zeus is like 40 at least.

It's more that most games on the NES can be considered bad today. The Legend of Zelda has aged extremely poorly, same with Super Mario Bros, Castelvania, and Metroid. The only games I feel that still hold up are Punch Out and Super Mario Bros 3.

The SNES is different, games generally have aged much better on the SNES than even on the N64. But with that system I'm still not sure there's a true consensus on what is good/bad.

Obitus is definitely bad, but I don't even like it either.

NES: Probably Zelda II. I think Super Mario Bros 2 gets shit for not being a "real" Mario game, bit I remember everyone loving it as a kid. SMB3 just outshined it 2 years later (which seems like an INSANE amount of time when you're a child)

SNES: This one is a tough one, but at the TIME I really liked Uniracers and I don't ever hear that hyped as a great SNES classic.

Ever play the Mega Man games? Id say most of the games other than the first aged well.

Ninja Gaiden aged decently, so long as youre ok with a very high level of difficulty. Contra & Super C hold up pretty nicely. And Ive never played Castlevania III, but Ive heard good things.

It has that "It's different from other Zeldas!" issue as ALttP went back to the original style and the series went down that path, so it was an evolutionary dead end of the series that stuck out more and more as time went by. From 1988-1991 I don't recall many people shitting on it as being bad, just that it was hard. Once ALttP came out though, it seemed to get crapped on more and more.

Robotrek, love that game, but most consider it a joke. Has some really rough translations and gameplay is a bit simple. You either get steamrolled or steamroll the enemies.

Exactly what I use in my arguments all the time. When it came out it was different, but not crazy considering there was no Zelda formula yet being only the second game released. Only people that crap on it nowdays played it as a retro game, not as it was originally released with no knowledge of the future of the series. I really enjoy Zelda 2.
