Um ok I dont understand why wouldnt I want to level up my characters

enemies get more powerful as you level up, and levels only provide a very small stat boost (unless you have the __ Bonus abilities equipped) compared to strong junctions - the fastest way to get strong quick is slap Enc-None on and run around the Island Closest To Hell drawing all the spells there and then junction them to your Str and HP

Any ideas on beating adel this is were I am in the game

i don't know how to play ff8 badly, sorry. i remember that hitting her with one Meltdown makes it pretty much easy mode, and then failing that ff8 always has built in easy mode get a character to... not even especially low hp and keep refreshing turn until you get a limit break and repeat every single turn

but either way Adel is a bit of a wakeup call if you've just been skating by on how relatively easy the main game is and haven't really been paying attention to how junctions work (source: 13-year-old me)

odds are pretty good that ertyu has a ton of stuff in his inventory that he could refine into good spells and boost himself up enough to handle the boss just fine

I never bothered with the card game

I didnt understand how to play it

I was only replaying it case I lost my file of the game long time after ago after I beat it

Just play it how you did last time then

I'm just like Leonhart said above, my first time playing FF8 I had no idea what I was doing and didn't understand the junction system and got by just spamming GFs every single battle. Which doesn't work during the Adel fight - though for me it was less Adel killing you and more my problem keeping Rinoa alive...

In any case, my recommendation is go back to playing FF7.

I think I was up to disc 2 on ff7 I got stuck on the train part

You can't get stuck on the train, if the fights are too tough just go do some leveling or just don't fight & let the counter run down to 0

I got lucky when I first played FF8 and relied on spamming limit breaks instead of GFs which still works for that fight IIRC

So my advice is put Squall or Zell or whoever down to critical health and skip turns until you can use a limit break with him, use it, and repeat

Otherwise get better at junctioning I guess

Well, you have to be careful with Squall because only his first finisher is single target, so if you've upgraded his weapon at all, you're taking a risk.

1 Adamantine (one of the Brothers GF cards refines into 10)
4 Dragon Fang (fight Dragon enemies - Blue Dragon on the northern snowy continent may be your best bet)
12 Pulse Ammo (Ammo RF ability on Energy Crystals - fight various enemies around Esthar for them)

Think that's right, haven't played right through FF8 for years. Got to do that again some time soon.
