I rarely drink now and very rarely so I get really drunk.

Today my GAD has been acting up a lot, I sleep worse and I just feel overall like crap.

Before when I drank much more I was used to it, now I feel the contrast.

Alcohol is fucking poison

Last time I had any significant amount to drink I felt the effects for several weeks after. I had no real hangover, but my immune system immediately tanked, got some sort of bronchitis or something. Felt mentally and physically very off for a lot longer than I would have expected.

Could have been a coincidence, but I go years without getting sick and typically function pretty optimally both mentally and physically (exercise daily) so I chalked it up to the booze.

I feel like most people never stop drinking long enough to experience the "best versions" of themselves.

Yeah, I had no idea how much it actually effected me I thought it was just during being drunk and the hangover but it has a much more lasting effect.

The older you get the worse the hangovers get. Hard liquor, even wine, gets on top of me for at least half of the next day.

Your diet and how and when you eat during consumption is also a factor.

I'm not talking about hangovers, talking about the effects it has on your body and mental state. But yeah hangovers are much worse now that I'm older.
