I saw the PV a while back but it really didn't do it justice. This show is absolutely gorgeous. It uses CGI, sure, but it looks really good and they use regular animation for certain depictions and it flows so well. And the "cinematography" is movie quality. Very few shows I can think of off the top of my head matches it (Monogatari series, Hyouka). The storyline itself is anthropomorphic animals in a High School setting, but what makes this so alluring is the dynamics of integrating herbivores and carnivores into society. There's a constant struggle between maintaining sociability and being true to their animal instinct. There's also romance, but it's handled uniquely from what you normally see in other shonen shows. I'll just leave it at that. I can't spoil that part cause that part left me flabbergasted and wondering just who wrote this story? It comes off as... more realistic than what you see in other anime. For instance (and to lightly allude to what I'm talking about), the world doesn't wait on the MC to make a move, take the next step, or so on.

If you're looking for an anime to watch this season, watch this show. If you're not particularly keen on anime, WATCH THIS SHOW. The dialogue and cast interactions are a class above other anime.

And to whoever read the manga before this show got an adaptation, CONGRATULATIONS. This adaptation has to be a dream come true for you guys. It reminds me of when I saw Attack on Titan. Having followed the manga from before the anime, I was thrilled to see how they knocked it out of the park while working with a source manga with a chickenscratch art style (with a stellar storyline to boot).

That's a really good comparison to make. You could say this is Japanese Zootopia, but way darker, but far more intricate in how they address the herbivore vs carnivore clash.

I just watched a couple select scenes over. Just know the defining panel, the first meeting of Haru and Legosi, is one of the few direct panel to anime adaptations that cemented their mark in anime history. I was utterly blown away and watched it over a dozen times. The last time I did this was when they revealed the villain identity in Attack on Titan's Season 2.

surprisingly excellent show though, was not expecting it to be this good
