21 y/o Mariah Tomey and her wife, 19 y/o Kaylee Kirk and their 1 y/o daughter Hadley were horrifically kileld in Indiana after a semi-tractor trailer smashed into them during traffic as he LOOKED AWAY from the road to put down a COFFEE MUG!!

The tractor pinned their car on a guardrail before it caught fire as Tomey and Kirk were killed instantly but Hadley's body was only discovered in the burnt car!!

34 y/o Matthew Lewis Small from Michigan is charged with 3 counts of reckless homicide, a level 5 felony

Police received multple calls about a major crash as first responders discovered the crash involved 8 car and a semi tractor trailer.

The other cars were seriously damaged in the crash as 14 people were taken to the hospital

Police said Small told them the accident happened when he looked down to set his coffee mug down when he ran into slowing traffic as he plowed through the back up

Police said it was a sad day for the 2 families and that distracted driving or driver inattention is a major cause of many accidents and that because of driver inattention, he should be held accountable

And that's idiotic, to be driving at presumably highway speeds, see traffic slowing down, and think THAT is the perfect moment to put your coffee mug down.
He's a trucker, driving long hours. I get it. He's gonna need occasional hydration. But...
At least wait until there's no cars around you or in front for a good distance, or when you're sitting in stopped traffic anyway, or something. Not in the moments you may need to suddenly decelerate!

The thing that really pisses me off is how more lenient the penalties are for "vehicular homicide" or "death by vehicle" or whatever you want to call it. At the very least, it should be treated like manslaughter, and you shouldn't have drivers killing 2 or 3 people and getting sentenced to like 5 years.

From what I've found, she seems to have been Tomey's kid.

Also, it's really common for lesbian or gay couples to have kids, either from one of them having a prior heterosexual relationship, or adopting, etc.

Personally, I don't think there should be a distinction between Dangerous Driving Causing Death/Injury and regular Dangerous Driving, given that the only difference is that the culprit was lucky enough to not hurt anyone in the latter case. Everyone driving dangerously should be charged and sentenced as though they killed as many people as they possibly could have with their driving.

He held a poll at the end of the year asking if people wanted him to keep doing his topics. At some point, "Yes" was winning, so he went with that and ignored that "No" ended up winning (52%, last I heard, though that was several days ago). I can't say I'm even remotely surprised.
