I may have destroyed the factory oleophobic coating on my phone by using some cheap lens cleaner. As far as I can tell my options are to either purchase a screen protector (ugly) and hope the oleophobic coating isn't garbage or buy some kind of oleophobic spray kit. If I buy a protector it will likely be ugly and if the coating wears off I'll be stuck trying to remove it which seems, not ideal. Anyone have experience with using such a product? Some products identify as "liquid screen protectors."

Whats that

Oh, the main purpose is to keep your phone fingerprint free. Typically the factory coating on a phone will last a long time if you don't screw it up by applying a cheap cleaner. Most factory coatings do come off over the course of a year or two though.

Same, but there's definitely levels of how bad it can get. When the coating goes it can almost be difficult to see the screen after a few minutes of use.

I once ordered a pair of glasses without the coating to save money and it was a mistake for sure.
