I found that learning curve to be steeper than Kingdom Battle for what it's worth. Three Houses was my first FE game and first JRPG game really. I really enjoyed it! Kingdom Battle is on another level. So fucking funny, really engaging gameplay that is easy to get even for a first timer. I've heard the DLC is great too.
