Current Events > Outer Worlds really was such a let down.

*Pretty generic story considering their pedigree for such things.

*pointless exploration with zero worthwhile rewards or interesting things to really find.

*bog standard gameplay.

*utterly disappointing when you get to the major city of the board and like 90% of the area is closed off and lifeless.

It seemed like it was trying so hard to new Vegas but didn't really capture anything that made that game good. It wasn't a bad game by any stretch of the imagination whatsoever, but you just come away not feeling very satisfied with it.

Tbqh I don't think modders really cared to bother with them because of how utterly pointless and not fun the exploration stuff is. The world isn't all that big either. Plus, you never actually see your character except on the pause screen.

Admittedly, they themselves reaalllly tried to lean into the new Vegas love for their own advertising and stuff.

Gamewise, they aren't the greatest, it's their writing they're most known for.

Kotor2(only with the restored content mod) is easily the single best piece of star wars fiction outside of the original trilogy.

That'd be best tbqh. Kotor2, nwn2, etc all had good writing, but were plagued with issues.

KotOR 2 and New Vegas were both incredibly rushed by LucasArts and Bethesda for what that's worth

Alpha Protocol was so good with everything...other than the janky gameplay.

To be fair Bioware was similar as well until Mass Effect 2. Hopefully they can improve in this area with Microsoft funding.

Stick of Truth was pretty solid gameplay wise.

I stop caring about when they cut out 3rd person. I hate when RPGs do this. At least for me to feel like I am part of the world I want to see my character. I don't feel like I am part of anything in first person. I know it is odd but it is like a disconnect for me. That is why I am not playing Cyberpunk.

The difficulty modes ranged from pathetically easy to impossibly hard.

Also it was really dumb that you could only sleep on your ship in hard mode, and saves only happened to start new areas. Neither of those are challenging, just massive inconveniences.

I feel this way about Ubisoft and their worlds. Their worlds usually look great. Then they fill it with super repetitive gameplay and hacky boring stories.

New Vegas with Fallout 4 gameplay would be great

I thought it was a beautiful game.

Sadly, they front loaded the game and it peaked too early with very little to keep me playing in the late game.

I've seen many others share this opinion.

I enjoyed it quite a bit, it had some great characters and dialog, and I took it for what it was, a fun 15-20 hour $40 experience (that I played for free on Game Pass)

Nah it's just a sort of meh game.

It's not bad or anything. Think of like an average Bioware game with barely any stakes and New Vegas gameplay and you've got Outer Worlds.

Honestly I couldn't get into New Vegas. The jank was off the charts, so it was hard to get immersed into any of the story lines, and the moment to moment gameplay (VATS and shit) was really boring after doing it in F3.

It was very meh. Yeah the story was extreamly malleable to how you played but.........it was too boring and dull to really care. The combat was really vanilla as well.

I liked what they were going for theme wise. But it may have just been a little too ambitious considering their resources.

The one weird thing that really plummeted the end of the game for me was near the end.

You meet this corporation villain who wants to kill the workers you've helped for...reason? It doesn't really make sense. Usually in a game like this you have the option to lie. In this case you do not. To avoid a fight I said I'd do it. Whenever I'd talk to companions they'd get pissed off at me and I had no option to say I was lying. Then I just went back and killed her and the game progressed as normal. It was really weird for an Obsidian game.

Can't mod Microsoft Store games and I don't think you can mod Epic Store games either? Gonna have to wait until it's on Steam

Nah, it really does have pointless exploration. You have all the best weapons in the game by the halfway point.

That is 100% the issue. You have everything worth having and have seem everything worth seeing by the halfway point. It also just kinda fizzles out.

Yup, you can't mod rare ones. The best tier of weapons unlocks for you fairly early on too.
