Once they learn that the consequences of being caught in a lie are much worse than telling the truth to begin with, it shouldn't be that difficult.

In 2nd grade I kept getting in trouble and sent to ISS for bullshit ass reason(i knew it then it was bullshit) and eventually i quit telling my mom and when she asked if i got in trouble that day, i'd lie and say no

well eventually the cat got out of the bag and I was ground for an entire summer. <_<

learned real fast honesty is the best policy.

Like most parenting, you cant just punish lying. If you arnt equally rewarding and encouraging good things then theyll enjoy the attention they get when their in trouble.

I actually learned not to lie from a friend at school. I mean, I of course knew it was bad but before then I figured it was worth the compromise to get out if trouble.

We were in line heading to the classroom from the cafeteria, talking when we weren't supposed to, and the teacher starts to approach so we stop. The teacher asks my friend if he was talking. He says yes ma'am and she sends him to the back of the line.

It was a simple little thing but it blew my little 4th grade mind.

I remember when I was four years old I had watched Home Alone. I remember seeing the scene where Macully Cullkin was splashing around in the bathtub and getting water everywhere.

So being an impressionable little shit, I thought it looked fun, and I did exactly the same thing when I took my bath that night.

Well, when my mom came in and saw there was water everywhere she asked me did you get out of the tub while I wasnt here?

Of course, I didnt. All I had done was swing my arms around like donkey Kong and hit the bathroom with a category 3 hurricane. So to her question I simple answer no.

So then she slapped me across the face and told me I was lying.
