It's still a better game than 4 and 5. I hadn't played it since it came out and I beat it, and I remember liking 4 but not as much as 3, and 5, while fun, was pretty meh overall. 3 has way more personality too it, and while it has the ubisoft towers, and a lot of what ultimately became the ubisoft formula, the vast majority of it is all truly optional, and no microtransaction nonsense. Vaas is still fucking awesome. The environment is better, the hostile wildlife is better(fucking cassowaries).

Yep, it's my favorite, but it's definitely not for everyone. It's similar to stalker shadow of chernobyl in the way it operates.

How are the frame rate and aiming controls in this? I bought this port instead of the PC one cuz only $3 but I've seen reviews it doesn't exactly have mindblowing "remaster" upgrades.

Yeah Far Cry 3 is still one of my favorite games ever and 4/5 didnt live up to it. I did have some good fun with Primal though. Thanks for the heads-up on the sale.

Bought it for full price back in the day and immediately regretted it. It was so repetitive even though it had so much potential.

Burning down the plantation was pretty memorable though.

3 is overrated trash, I don't know why everyone loves it. It was fun when it came out but after 4 and 5 there's no reason to think it's superior in any way.

Convoluted menu navigation.
Side challenges that aren't meaningfully integrated into the world so you feel like you're playing an arcade simulation.
Thirty-second long side quests that were obviously shoe-horned in. These were at least laughable in how shitty they were.
Wingsuit is unlocked too late in the game.

Everyone seems to love it because the main character is a white college kid so apparently they relate, but in the whole ensemble of Far Cry protagonists it's also the least believable one.

And the primary villain is so overrated with an unoriginal but OmG sO DePE QUOTE.

Don't get me wrong, it's fun, but I don't know how anyone could say it's the best in the series without looking through some hardcore prescription nostalgia lenses.

This is not remotely one of the reasons I like it. If anything its kind of fun seeing a preppy college kid be turned into Rambo but I agree hes not believable. The VA for him was pretty good though and of course
Michael Mando as Vaas was awesome. Even if you want to hate on the character for some reason hes just a really good actor and voice actor.

I've only played Blood Dragon and 5 and I really liked those a lot besides 5's stupid ass story. For that price I got to check out 3. Nacho Varga as the villain seems interesting too.

Not saying the voice acting was bad, but no one ever claims he's a good character because of the VA. They love that stupid "insanity is doing the same thing expecting different a different outcome" line.

Also didn't mean to imply (though I know I basically said it) that people just loved it because of the protagonist. There's a lot of other stuff I think people just like because nostalgia.

Probably true, but thats the same for any game. I tend to rate games based on the time they came out. Like Ocarina of Time, Fallout 3, MGS3, RE4, and The Last of Us are all masterpieces to me but for the most part have been outclassed by other games by now.

Vaas also isn't the primary villain. He dies like half way through the game IIRC.

Ita not remastered at all. It's "classic edition". It's a straight port basically. It works fine. Haven't seen any framerste issues whatsoever. Smooth as butter.

Yeah it's the actor's delivery of vaas that makes the character awesome, not what he says.

Nah. I just recently replayed 4 and 5, and am now doing 3 again, I still prefer 3. I really didn't care for the environment in 4 at all, that's all. Functionally, 3 and 4 are near identical games.

Farcry 3 is the definition of generic Ubisoft game. 4 and 5 share the same overall formula but have some extra bells and whistles that give them both the edge. None of them are worth more than $20 and they still don't hold a candle to 2. 3 was bland when it came out and people fawning over it only gets worse with age.

People have preferences

2 is my favorite, but I still prefer 3 over 4 and 5. Setting and atmosphere play a big part of that for me. The only thing 4 did better for me is gyrocopters. 5 runs like absolute ass on consoles, with horrid framerste when airborne.

Also, literally every ubisoft game made since far cry 3 has had the exact same formula.

5 isn't bad, but it runs so bad on consoles when trying to fly anything, and flying is such a big part of that game.
