I liked my job with the school and never wanted to do anything else. Took forever to even find the job I like.

What's more...they needed us to be there when schools restarted. But now they're telling us we wont be back until late August maybe and taking away our UI stimulus in top of that.

Moreover...the teachers who already get salary anyway and dont have to worry about thier income get to be the ones to lobby to keep schools closed longer...AND force me to stay home and homeschool my kids with thier lesson plan while they get paid for it and I wont. This is so beyond bullshit at this point.

Count me as one who doesnt feel bad for the teachers who dont get thier way...because they were more than willing to throw all other school staff under the bus themselves

My brothers other half is a teacher and even when not at school due to them been closed for the most part she's had to work from home doing a lot of bullshit things. At this point she would be more happy been in a school doing what she loves.

I don't know how it is in the USA but over here most folk are living their lives as normal as possible. It helps that most things have now reopened too. We have to wear masks on public transport and soon in shops and social distancing is everywhere but it's not that much of a big deal.

I know there are some teachers who probably do just want to go back.

But I guess I'm talking about the others who we see on the news begging them to keep schools closed.

Last April when they closed the first time the teachers got to keep working and collecting salary $ but really I was spending all the time getting through thier shitty homeschool lesson with my kid and not getting paid as a bus driver. Now seeing them advocate for this to continue and not caring what it means to other school staff and thier families is just enraging. And how the narrative is being pushed that its THIER sob/fear story is even grosser. Hope if they do keep schools closed and all of us non teaching staff quit that it eventually bites these jerks in thier asses when schools reopen and theres no support staff.

...but Covid doesnt care if you dont care about it anymore. Its still going to wreak havoc no matter what you think.

you seem to be angry at the people who are trying to stop the virus. But you should be angry at the government for doing NOTHING about the virus and then giving no one compensation for it.

other countries were paying people to stay in quarantine and they got rid of the virus. But this government acts like the virus isnt a problem and that people should go back to earning their money regardless.

i just think youre blaming the wrong people here

Why should TEACHERS go back? They are most likely to be infected/die - no the kids.
