The last decade had been a complete disaster for the film landscape. Horrible. Just dreadful. Out of the all of the films I've seen from the decade just passed, there are maybe ten I really liked.

What is happening.

Angry, no, but I am getting A bit burnt out a bit. Theyre all the same and just keep cycling with new actors...to more of the same. They should really stop over saturating the market, but obviously the money is in doing that. *shrug*

Gee willikers, maybe you should watch something else then.

Hollywood was decent at best even before Disney started choking the life out of it. Watch a movie from a different country, or watch one of the hundreds of thousands of movies that were made in the past that appeals to your interests and/or values.

So you've only watched mainstream films and you're complaining about it. That's on you, not anything wrong with the film landscape.

I've watched hundreds of films from the last decade and there's been loads of incredible films.

I watch tons of indie films, to say nothing of foreign films and very old films, but I stand by what I said about the last decade.

These are very dark times for the film industry. Even worse, most people love how bad things have gotten.

The problem is in how over-saturated the genre is at the expense of other genres.

It wouldn't be a problem that we have so many superhero movies if there were other films to counterbalance them. Let's have a secret agent movie, a treasure hunt movie, a tough cop movie, a psycho vigilante movie, a dinosaur movie, a ghost movie, and some kind of jungle adventure. Then it would be okay to have five superhero movies per year.

But when everything comes down to superheroes, it's kinda like every video game being a first-person shooter. It's like, can we have something different for a change?

Secret agent : Kingsman, Kingsman Golden Circle, the constant Mission Impossible movies
Treasure Hunt: Seems to have been a while... think Indiana Jones KotCS was the last
Tough Cop: Bad Boys 4 released this year
Vigilante: recent Death Wish
Dinosaur: the recent Jurassic Park movies? It's not like this was ever a "genre" thing to begin with
Ghost: The dozen Conjuring spin-offs? Or hell, Hereditary if you want a great one
Jungle: The 2 recent Jumanji movies

The fact that massive marketing campaigns make it seem like there are only superhero movies doesn't mean there aren't any other movies. I mean here you are acting like supernatural horror is a rare thing when the massive success of The Conjuring and Paranormal Activity before that has made sure the genre has been over saturated with low effort crap the past decade.

Plenty of great films in all genres have come out in the last decade

You just need to look a little harder for them but they're there
