You can also probably set your Switch clock to that day and it should trigger.

It comes in the form of a quest marker. I'll be checking it out tomorrow.

EDIT: Just so the people who haven't played it know, the game takes place during the summer of 2005, and Katrina actually does play somewhat of a role in the game.

So I went through it. Spoilers below for the new stuff for today only.

There's a blue quest marker that shows up at the northeast end of town, on the bank of the Mississippi. You go there and a group of people in black and white clothes are gathered there, and there are wreaths of flowers on the water. You can access the quest marker and it will ask you to get ten flowers for a wreath. It'll send you to one of three locations where there are now obvious white flowers in the area. Pick up ten, return to the group, and York will leave a wreath on the water, which will silently drift towards the rest of them.

It's all very quiet, and very respectful. Thankfully York doesn't even open his big gob during it.

The only thing is that the game asks you to do all three locations for credit, and you can continue doing it afterwards for some reason.
