Current Events > How do you feel about the eighth generation of gaming?

I mean, it's been going for almost eight years now, and probably won't last MUCH longer.

Generally speaking, I've enjoyed it a lot. I have a Wii U and Switch. I've played some really excellent games. The slowdown in graphical improvement has annoyed me quite a lot, but the gameplay has been there, and some of the games have overall been great. Some good creativity, and many games have been really challenging.

didnt really play much from this gen tbh.

only games i put notable hours into are fallout 4 (last year, 80hrs), street fighter 5 (this year, 300hrs).

other than that last time i gamed somewhat heavily was like between 2010-2012 and that was just call of duty and blizzard games.

Too many remasters, remakes, and reimagine[d|s]. For 9th-gen releases more originals, please (sequels are fine as long as they are new entries).

Did I play that on Amiga?

It's been great for indie games but mainstream gaming has been mostly very underwhelming outside a few gems. Yakuza 0 and Hollow Knight have probably been my favorite games of the generation. Theres still a good bit of games I need to get to.

Turrican 2 on the Amiga is a masterpiece.

Pretty weak decade from old head who grew up in the 5th and 6th generations perspective, personally

psWii60 era was weak enough that i pretty much lost interest in buying a console this gen

This is the gen that made me transition 100% to pc gaming and I don't regret it at all.

Yeah, but in all fairness we did get rdr, which is one of my favorite games of all time.

It's been kind of fun. I've been a lot busier with work and school compared to when I was on the ps3 though. The last three years alone I've dropped a number of games before completion.
