Many of you know that I've been running a tabletop RPG based around the story of No Man's Land from the Batman titles in the late 90s. Well, an update! The campaign is nearing its conclusion. It's actually been a crazy busy year for me thanks to running two sessions a week for it - we have 9 players divided into two groups - and as we wind down to the end of the campaign, I've just been floored by what's gone well, what hasn't, and learning to run a campaign for a group of very, very different people. It's honestly been an amazing experience for me. I ran this campaign - in a more simplified form - for friends of mine at my old apartment before I moved, and now I've expanded it and added a lot of complexity to it that I think worked well in drawing the players into the world of DC Comics.

In any event, I'm about to take a couple weeks off as I prep for Campaign 2, which is based entirely around Final Crisis (a story that I think is just begging to be expanded upon). I figured, if people remembered this and were interested, or if the players wanted to share at all about their experience, this might be the place to do it, since everyone involved is a Board 8er. I'd love to share about the various characters in the campaign and all of the craziness surrounding them. This week is a final solo session for every player as they split up and go with groups of NPCs to a variety of notable Gotham locales in an effort to stop the League of Assassins from destroying Gotham in one last desperate attempt. It's been pretty insane to run 9 sessions in a week.

I was about to just list everyone's final solo teams and what they know about their missions/ have done so far, but I suppose that's probably better left saved for them.

My final solo team is comprised of my character Fastbreak, Robin, Spoiler, Huntress, and Dagmar Procjnow (Our cop quest giver that is along for the ride).

CAMPAIGN SPOILERS WILL FOLLOW

Robin is the first friend Fastbreak made in the cape community. They had a short meeting before the No Man's Land occurred and bonded quickly. Robin has been keeping busy on his own personal missions through Gotham for the most part, but whenever he has had down time or a need to recover Fastbreak has made sure to try and spend some time with him. There was almost an argument in arguing over who's best friend he was between Fastbreak and Superboy when they went to rescue Robin and he was in bad shape, but Superboy's dramatics made it a no contest. There was no one Fastbreak would have wanted to team with higher than Robin.

Spoiler is a not as coherent of a relationship, but it can get there. Spoiler being one of Robin's best friends, and bailing our group out early in the campaign, she's someone that Fastbreak has looked at fondly as another hero he could aspire to be. He sought her out to train with her and to learn some of the trade of the Bat Family more directly, but to earn her trust he would have to go and do something for her first - She wanted to know exactly where her dad, The Cluemaster, was going to be at all times. Fastbreak agreed to that and sought out to be Cluemaster's bodyguard on his efforts to become the Mayor of New Gotham. What happened from there though made things a bit more difficult as Fastbreak actually because really close to Cluemastr to the point where he sided with him and helped him achieve his goal of becoming the Mayor, something Spoiler was trying to stop.
...During this time though Spoiler suffered a pretty brutal attack from the Joker and was sidelined for a bit. It took a combined effort of everyone talking to her and trying to get her back to normal after her physical recovery to try and get her back into a crime fighting mindset. But Fastbreak and her did have a pretty good talk during this time, and it ended up being the final piece that lead to her redonning her cowl. She's ready to join us on this mission... but also said we need to have a talk when things are done.

Finally we have Huntress. Huntress is someone that Fastbreak interacted with a few times under the guise of not actually realizing it was her at first, and even someone he had wanted to reach out to more during that time. But when Batman returned to Gotham, Huntress met a rude awakening and was prompty fired from her Bat Family status. Fastbreak however was one of the few people amongst our teams who was greatful for what Huntress had done here in No Man's Land. He tried to keep a report going, but Huntress had become pretty cold towards everyone connected to The Bat. Fastbreak just doesn't learn though and he thought maybe he could make a couple of wrongs into a right, and he looked to Nite-Wing , (no not Nightwing) to learn from Huntress. They shared many views and had a lot in common. Fastbreak hoped they would help each other out, perhaps letting go of some of that anger in both of them. She was a Batman that needed a Robin, and Nite-Wing had all the potential to be someone on the right side of justice, he just needed a push. She got her Robin, it just ended up in them becoming cop killers and almost killing Jesse Custer. And eventually an alliance with Billy Pettit. After some strange bedfellows favors, we reearned Huntress' trust, but in the process broke some of who she was when we showed her Pettit wasn't who he said he was, and Nite-Wing had shacked up with their current enemy in hopes of keeping his sister safe. She killed Pettit and had been missing for a couple months. But word of The League spreading has her right back in the thick of things and ready to run along side the Bat Family one more time. It's her chance for redemption, or to make her own statement, we'll have to see.

Oh, I can totally ramble about my solo team. I don't know if anyone will really read it but let's do it.

My character, Varra, has assembled a team of Harvey Bullock, Count Vertigo, Ragman and Red Dart.

When in a part of the campaign known as Patchwork, the group went through various alternate realities to hold our world together. In one of these, Varra seduced a young Harvey Bullock in order to gain access to an area they needed to get to. She hasn't had much connection with the real Bullock, but when picking a cop as a requirement for this final mission, he was the one she wanted to bring.

Count Vertigo and Varra have a very complicated history. In Varra's youth, she was wild and attracted to the wrong type of men. She met Vertigo one evening and they had a fraught relationship that culminated with Varra getting pregnant. Varra feared for her son's safety, since Vertigo wasn't stable, and ended things with him without explanation. During No Man's Land, they reconnected and rebuilt their relationship. Varra has confessed their son to him and he is willing to meet him after they get to leave Gotham and attempt to be a family together.

Ragman and Varra met during No Man's Land. I don't think Varra fully realizes, but she has a little bit of a crush on him, seeing him as what could have been if her upbringing went a different way. She has relied on him for help in dealing with the threats they face. He's been kidnapped more than once from helping her and she keeps promising to not pull him into her problems, but it's a promise she cannot keep as she keeps finding herself needing his supernatural expertise.

Red Dart is a member of the League of Assassins that Varra knew from before No Man's Land. Varra also was a member of the League, although she left the organization when she noticed it changing to a more darker, brutal organization. Throughout this campaign Varra realized this change was due to Ra's Al Ghul being deceased and one of his daughters taking control of the League and warping it. Varra and Red Dart remained loyal to Ra's and recently found a way to resurrect him. In his gratitude, Ra's elevated Varra and Red Dart to the position of one of his Seven Deadly Hands. Unfortunately, accepting this position would cause Varra to not be able to return to her son, which her ultimate goal has always been. She faces a bit of a dilemma here, feeling as though if she were to decline Ra's gift things would not end well for her. She tried to say no diplomatically and Ra's hasn't accepted her rejection. In the meantime though, she is willing to still use Red Dart's skills and expertise to help her in this final mission.

I will also talk about my solo team, as well as some other important things to Obrov

KGBeast was serving as guard in front Blackgate prison, which Obrov frequently encountered while visiting Lew, Amygdala, and others at the prison. This led to Obrov constantly pestering KGBeast (a large stoic man with a machine gun arm) until eventually they became unlikely friends. Though KGBeast had no interest in the hero life, he always seems to have the smallest soft spot for Obrov's shenanigans.

Humpty is a large, sad, and developmentally challenged man with a heart of gold who has dedicated his entire time in the campaign to collecting missing child posters and helping find them, though in the city things rarely work out well. The final mission gave him a chance to finally help save the city (with the assistance a super-powered seaweed).

Duela Dent is probably the daughter of The Jokester, a misunderstood and deeply troubled man from Earth-3 who died in Obrov's arms. The death of the Jokester left a major impact on Obrov through the entire campaign, altering his views on people, and when he learned of her place in No Man's Land, he made it his mission to ensure her safety by any means necessary, coming to view her as a sort of daughter. After the Blue Boys took over the city, Duela Dent (suffering from an identity crisis of sorts) came to believe Jim Gordon was her father, declaring herself to be Jane Gordon, a rookie beat cop trying to serve justice in a way that nobody truly understands. Still, she and Obrov share a unique friendship regardless of circumstances.

Roulette is NOT part of Obrov's team, but she is one of the most important characters to his story and has to be mentioned. Throughout the campaign, Obrov and Roulette have been working tirelessly together to try to reclaim the Knightsdome, a giant stadium in the heart of the city where once-villains with various powers and gear battle in gladiator-type combat. This was largely a solo mission for Obrov separate from most of the players, as he made it his mission to find a list of champions for the Knightsdome: Bug-Eyed Bandit, Kite-Man and/or Firefly, Shrike, and Deadline. It took months to find them all, but after tons fo effort (including Roulette serving as Obrov's date to Tali's wedding) the Knightsdome takeover is complete and Roulette's new arena is a huge success, with Obrov at her side.

Oh sure, I can mention Riev's reason for his team.

Everyone had one cop because of us siding with James Gordon to take control of Gotham. Riev's chosen cop was Crispus Allen, who his team (Han's character, MI's character, and Ermine's character) had rescued from the racist Olympians territory.

Now, Riev was a hitman and a mercenary. He worked for a few minor Gotham based criminals and his more major storyline was based around his recent boss and a tragic storyline regarding him having killed his brother on the orders of this boss, Roman Sionis aka the Black Mask. After taking down Sionis and putting his closest lieutenant, Great White Shark, in place of Mask's territory, Riev put Mask under watch of the mercenary group he was heavily acquainted with, which was Noonan's Bar. They had control of the Knightsdome after the events of the Patchwork due to their bar getting burnt down, so Riev made sure his bomb location was that. During the events of the last months, Sionis ended up under the watch of Roulette (mentioned earlier with Johnbobb's thing).

First on his list, was the most gifted of the Noonan's Bar mercenaries, and the only one we've really met, Tommy Monaghan. He had been part of a mission before and they talked a few things over. Riev easily trusted him and wanted to be alongside him.

Second on his list will be a longer story, so I'll start on #3 since he's more relevant. Early on in the campaign, we found a story about slave trading and investigated the Faith Sector, a number of False Facers (aka Black Mask's gang) were down in there. One in particular was named Mikey, he was someone who wanted to get away from the fighting so was the only False Facer that didn't return after we defeated the man in charge of the slave trade. I brought Mikey as a conscience, someone who would choose whether or not at the end of Riev's solo session on whether he kills Sionis for the death of his brother, or if Sionis is spared. Black Mask was left at the end in continued care of Roulette, who would make the rest of his days torturous. Riev did get to basically tell Roman that all his industries were going to Great White Shark in that time anyway, fully making Black Mask defeated and leaving him with nothing even if he escaped from Roulette's fight club.

Back to second on the list, there was one extra storyline Riev had, that he didn't do too much during, but he was a little invested in it. Azrael had a group of mercenaries, one Riev knew originally (Philo Zeiss, who Riev had some interactions of helping each other during), some people with similar talents as Riev (Deadshot with sniping and Brutale with torture, he assisted both over the course), finally, there is one person he didn't interact with originally, but there was a time where Scar wanted us to talk about what our plans were with an NPC, and at the end of the conversation I got a Contact level with Catman. At one point of talking to him, I understood that the last time he was in Gotham he got arrested stealing from a grocery store and felt like an embarrassment, he got into shape and wanted to get back with Catwoman. So Riev sought out setting them up, over the course of two attempts, Catman got turned down hard when he tried to talk to her and became depressed for months after. Riev invited Catman since he'd be definitely out of the building he was living in to protect both the pride of lions he was with and to make sure Selina would know that Catman helped the city. Entertainingly, because of Catman coming along, the leader of his pride came looking for him, so I had one extra character, which was a lion.

Some characters and NPCs that were a big deal to Fastbreak

https://tinyurl.com/y53euzjf

Peyton Riley. Early on in our No Man's Land adventures our team made strong relations with Scarface, one of the neighbors to our main base. Things were mostly well and Peyton was, what Fastbreak thought, to be his assistant, as we had met Scarface and he had acted indepdentably on his own prior to this, just his assistant seemed like not a big deal. There was a mutual fondness from the get go and when a wedding came up, he had asked her to go with him. Things took off from there and they developed a bit of a relationship. The wedding came though and when The Joker reared his head and took down Azrael it was a sign of bad things to come for more than just Azrael's own territory. Scarface took this oppertunity to wage war on all the territories that bordered his - This included our friends in the Faith Sector, our main base of operations, and the Water Works which we were depending on to help restore the city to normalcy. Upon confronting Peyton about this attack it was revealed that she herself was unknowing operating Scarface through a deal with The Devil.
Distraught, we crushed in Scarface's wooden head and sent Peyton into a frenzy.Knowing how important she was to me, and how she had grown closer to some others in the group, we took her to the Faith Sector to see if anything could be done for her. What happened next was Jesse Custer quite literally shooting the Devil out of her. Right in the eye. But she lived through it. But all she wanted to know was why she could no longer hear Scarface.
Our next stop was the closed Arkham Asylum which was under perview of Captain Cold. After convincing him to reopen its doors, and paying him off through the process, Arkham was once again up and running... but unfortunately more like a prison. So for the next couple of months Fastbreak had to pay off guards to make sure Peyton recieved medication to try and get her back to a stable condition, but even then she still called for Scarface. Feeling gross, Fastbreak went ahead and reclaimed the broken pieces of the wooden dummy and worked away until he was back to the way he was before we had destroyed him. It's been enough to put her back in better spirits, but what her future holds is still unknown, as it can take quite sometime under the watch of the now returned Dr. Arkham.

Okay, so here's some backstory:

Talirah Isiset was a princess in ancient Egypt, and her psychotic, asshole father was betrayed by his vizier (who we've discovered was Vandal Savage). Tali was entombed for millenia, and awakened via magic in Gotham City. She didn't remember anything when she awoke, due to problems with the resurrection process. She eventually got her memories back and realized that she was pyrokinetic as well.

Now, she met up with Azrael, who was leading a large territory in central Gotham, and when he discovered not only her royal lineage, but also her fire powers, he informed her that he had received a prophesy that he needed to take a queen that fit her very description. Some thing happened that made Tali realize that she needed to fulfill the prophesy, so she accepted and became Azrael's fiance. During this time, she grew close to and friendly with Azrael's numerous lieutenants, specifically Deadshot. Tali was one of the few people Deadshot trusted with the knowledge of his daughter's presence in the city at first, and she was a very mothering figure to young Zoe Lawton, so Deadshot grew quite fond of the future Demon Goddess.

However, at the wedding, the Joker attacked and brutally disfigured Azrael, forcing him to be evacuated from the city for medical help, and leaving Tali essentially "widowed" and in charge of the Demon God territory. She tried to get Deadshot to take over as leader of the territory, but he declined, so Tali chose her former rival, Lady Vic instead. Deadshot, however, caught Tali on the rebound from her failed marriage, and they began to have a casual fling while dealing with the hardships of Gotham City under the No Man's Land quarantine. He entrusted Tali with Zoe's protection, and Tali served as Zoe's mother figure for the latter half of a year. And when it came time for the final mission, Tali trusted Deadshot to have her back and help fight the League.

Additionally, Azrael's personal bodyguard was Electrocutioner, who Tali unfortunately rejected as leader of the Demon God territory, despite him calling dibs. Still, he hung around and was just a laid back guy who made finger guns and watched over the Natural History Museum. Eventually, he quit the territory when Lady Vic was deposed, but when Tali needed someone with electrical powers to deal with a potential bomb, she called on Electrocutioner to help save Gotham, as he always wanted to do.

As for the rest of the team, Tali's cop ally was Josie Mac, who she first met during a summit to determine what leadership would claim the Patchwork. Given her relative isolation as an African (Egyptian, but Tali is dark-skinned) woman in Gotham, Tali bonded with a fellow woman of color, and they became closer as Josie wound up taking charge of the territory around Tali's home base of the Clock Tower. So when it came time to team up with the police to take down the League of Assassins, Tali wound up choosing Josie to form Team BGM.

Finally, the last member of Team Tali: Batgirl. A few months into the campaign, a sniper started attacking people across Gotham City. First he killed a scientist we rescued, who we were trying to get to run the waterworks. Our team started investigating the killings, because they became more frequent, and during those investigations, we came across a mute ninja girl who could only communicate via punching. Rosetta, with her super-language, and Tali, with years of diplomatic training that made it easy to pick up languages, began communicating with the girl and learning about the sniper. With her help, "Orphan" led the team to the sniper's hideout, where we learned he was David Cain, and he had a list of kills he needed to accomplish. We convinced him to abandon his contract (by telling him that Ra's Al Ghul was dead), and got him out of the city, leaving Orphan behind.

Now, during this whole process, Tali discovered that Orphan was Cassandra Cain, David Cain's daughter. And she discovered that David Cain was physically abusive to her. Watching Cassandra constantly try to return to her father, only to get beaten and attacked, Tali's heart broke for the girl. She had a similar experience with her own father. So she began putting an extra effort into befriending Cassandra and serving as a mother figure/big sister when Cassandra moved into the Clock Tower and took on the mantle of Batgirl (at Batman's behest). Tali started teaching Cassandra how to speak and read and write English, and eventually, Cassandra started to teach Tali how to do martial arts combat. Slowly, but surely, Cassandra started to open up and trust Tali, joining her in facing down the Demons Three, turned Demon One, where they fought Tali's resurrected father, and Tali protected Cassandra from her father's wrath. There's no one else she would trust more to face the League at the end of the quarantine.

Speaking of Lady Vic, she would be another one of my picks for favorite NPCs

https://www.writeups.org/wp-content/uploads/Lady-Vic-DC-Comics-a.jpg

One of the reasons Tali and Vic were opposed prior to Vic inheriting Azrael's territory was there meeting up in a city wide tournament held by The Penguin to try and drum up some entertainment for the city, and keep his rich demographic happy. Tali, however, paid Lady Vic to take a dive. Vic agreed, but did so in a grand way by announcing to the entire stadium that she was approached to take a bribe and lose and she took it, rising her level of fame and infamy at the same time. The crowd was even more enamored with Lady Vic in this moment of stepping aside and it left Fastbreak scratching his head. Part of Fastbreak's backstory is that he was beloved by Gotham as an up and coming star athlete until he took a dive during a championship game, and from that point on he was villafied and hated by a vast majority of the city. Seeing Vic get away with this and being more embraced entrigued him. He approached her and had to learn more about her.

After being handed territory by Tali, she was suddenly a big power player in the city, but had no interest in staying friends with Tali unlike the rest of the other lieutennants that stayed behind from Azrael's regime. Feeling someone needed to keep an eye on things, Fastbreak reached out and approached her to become a personal body guard for her in efforts of learning from her and her ways, saying that he would help her find success, both in gaining more ground in the city via territory and in her bid to become Mayor once she threw her hat in the ring. Vic liked a bit of a show herself though and said that if I was going to be on her team, she wanted the full deal and expected me to be in costume. This lead to Fastbreak reaching out to Max Lord's people to get an a real, actual hero costume, and pushed him to don the moniker "Alkaline" while in costume. He looked like a complete tool in costume, but hey, what can you do. Vic was happy and he helped Vic do very well while he was at her side.

Unfortunately once she removed him from his role she ended up getting taken down and thrown into Blackgate. This would be a real pain as Vic actually was a big part of us holding peace in the middle part of Gotham and once she went down a larger scale war broke out close to our home again. Blackgate was not the end for her though as we eventually did get her out and installed as one of Cheshire's Ravens where she resided until her exit from Gotham.

Vic was definitely one of the more polarizing characters. People pretty much were into her or hated her. I thought she was great and a fun character to work with and she definitely made things interesting

On Thursday, we have our epilogue session. I'm really looking forward to the end of this campaign a lot. On one hand, I feel proud so much that I was able to put together over the last year, but on the other, I realize that there is so much room for me to develop and grow. I've been slowly building my next campaign for so long, and, much like this campaign, it's been really hard to not reveal the surprises early.

I try to predicate the campaign on twists and turns, but there were plenty in the current campaign. Neron turned out to not be Neron, Huntress got fired, and we spent weeks ripping pieces of fabric out of Batman's mouth and other assorted orifices. Overall, it's tough to see the campaign end, but I think there were a lot of great character arcs over time. It feels like a natural ending time, even though many people want to linger on.

Along the way of the campaign, the main antagonist we went up against arranged for us to have counterparts in the city. So we had teams consisting of people who others could confuse for our groups running around. Most of us didn't like these guys, definitely not the counter parts to ourselves. Not many people liked my counterpart (Artemis tried to eat him on sight), but I actually had a pretty decent relationship with him. My counterpart was Sportsmaster.

Sportsmaster was leading a group of people intending to stop progress to the northernmost island of Gotham, or get rich along the way. Thanks to a poor knowledge roll I had made earlier in the game I also thought he was married to Huntress and not Tigress which was pretty funny for a while. He made, in my opinion, the most heroic effort of our counter parts by helping get one of our allies all the way north for medical help. He definitely told some tall tales along the way, but it's about results, right?

Spoilers (heh) ahead

The Cluemaster, the crook that was inspired by Artemis and now here we are.

Not in a million years did I ever think I would like, or join sides with the Cluemaster, but here we are.

So the day my group landed in No Mans Land one of the first things we did was try to return to where a good chunk of our group lived previously. It was now under control of Arthur Brown, the Cluemaster and we quickly found out to do anything in the area you had to fill out paperwork and go through the system. We hated every bit of it. All of it. It was terrible. On top of all of this, they also had custody of my beloved Riddlermobile and I was *VERY* upset that I couldnt just walk in and take it out. Our next stop though ended up with us intercepting a group of nearly 20 slaves who were desperately in need of homes and the Cluemaster, as much as we hated him already, had room to spare. Finding out later that they gave my car to someone else? There was just no way I could deal with this guy, fuck him.

Then I made that deal with Spoiler. She wanted to keep tabs on her dad on a more efficient level, and Fastbreak was willing to try and get closer to him to try and find another mentor. So he approached The Cluemaster with the idea of letting him be on his security team with the suggestion that Fastbreak would pull the ear of Jim Gordon, who was quickly taking over the neighboring territories, and for them to form an alliance. Cluemaster said before we could get to that though, I would have to become a member of his territory though, which meant filling out his forms, but along the way Fastbreak found out paperwork actually wasnt that bad, (a nat 20 filling out a copy of the same forms elsewhere actually made him efficient in them and like paperwork at this point!). The background check, however, flagged his backstory hitch of having thrown his championship high school basketball game which allowed Cluemaster to make Fastbreak jump through a few extra hoops, off the books, to prove he was trustworthy before they could work together.

Some digging around, pushing a bit of a smear campaign later, common ground was found and Fastbreak found himself as Cluemasters assistant. Through this process though, Fastbreak found himself bonding with Cluemaster. Cluemaster, as it turns out, wasnt always a scumbag. At one time he played for the good guys. And his reasonings for wanting to become mayor became less and less criminal and more and more serious the more Fastbreak spent time with him.

This got tested quickly when the fall of the Archduchess occurred and before Cluemaster could even fully integrate his new territories, the Penguin waged full blown war on him, threatening to launch bombs, and air assaults, and destroying more and more land until he was satisfied. The choice was clear, Cluemaster was the lesser of two evils. He was becoming a good politician, but not so great of a fighter though, and he needed help. So Fastbreak, and his group had to be ambassadors for him to quickly find allies to try and end the war before things got worse. It was tense and we had a lot of curveballs to work through, but we finally got things in place to get the war ended, and it led to one of my favorite moments of the campaign.

This chat, on our way to finish up peace talks that would thrust us into the endgame of the campaign, is pretty much what set Fastbreak into his final mindset. His name didnt have to be mud, and he could get more done just by doing what he had been doing already. And that bit at the end of swindling idiots out of land showed that really these two were cut from the same cloth. There was a bigger game at play and they wanted to play chess, and they felt they were winning. And Fastbreak also having an impact on Cluemaster was the extra push that said that he was going in the right direction. He was good at this, maybe better than the hero thing.

We continued on to the end of the campaign. Fastbreak succeeded in his final mission with his team, and he and Spoiler had similar thoughts. Fastbreak could stay on working with Cluemaster, and keep tabs on him and if he ever got too far out of line, it would be time to take him down. It allowed him to do what he was good at, but also keep things open with the Bat Family. And. it worked.. Kind of.

Unfortunately Spoiler wouldnt leave things alone with her dad to the point where it instigated gang wars, and Black Mask took it as a good cue to remake his mark on Gotham and took her out. Push came to shove and Fastbreak stuck things out with Cluemaster.

Never in a million years.

But here we are.

Some other fun memorable moments

- Hijacking the Batsignal and turning it into the Riddlersignal

- Using an entire pirate ship as a live bomb to blow up a drug den

- Blowing up an entire building and narrowly surviving as we swam through butter

- Booster Gold showing up to take all the credit while doing nothing and getting all of our names wrong

- Our Shapechanger accidently turning into her worst enemy without any of us noticing so we all attacked her because she couldn't just change back at the time.

- Jay Garrick helping us ferry 200 people to safety as we had to hold off zombie like creatures before they could reach the corner of the island we were stuck in

There's tons more

there's definitely a few Obrov juggernaut moments but I assume the one you're referring to:

During Rosetta's origin mission, we tried sneaking into Mad Hatter's territory. By "we" I mean everyone but Obrov, who is huge and ugly and (at least at this part of the campaign) was horrible at stealth. Fun fact: It eventually became a running joke that Obrov was a master of stealth because I nat 20'd several consecutive stealth rolls despite having all-but non-existent stealth stats. Anyway, Rosetta went in disguised as Alice (from Alice in Wonderland) but got captured and fitted with a mind-controlling helmet. The others snuck in with the distraction while Obrov just kinda hung out outside killing time.

Eventually the cover of the rest of the group is blown, there was something about a giant fire dragon that everyone hallucinated, and Obrov, hearing the commotion from outside, just goes full "I'm the juggernaut, bitch" and charges in, piling through entire rows of tinker-toy-like soldiers that were firing on them. He picks Rosetta up above his head while toppling through soldiers, and eventually everyone falls through a bridge into sewers below.
