A planet, or earth in a not distant future is a world which has a black hole close enough to not destroy earth but trap it in rotation and it affects the time, half of the earth has slower time the closer it's the black hole, and that's the dark and colder side too.

I remember an episode of Doctor Who with something similar, except it was a space ship falling into a black hole, and as they went further down in the ship towards the black hole more time had passed for the people on those decks.

Though obviously it makes no sense from a physics perspective because if the time dilation was that severe between decks everyone would be dead.

I remember an old Donald Duck story...
Scientists discovered a nearby black hole, so Scrooge decided to charge people for all the garbage they wanted to get rid of and then put it in a rocket and fly it into the black hole.
People went crazy and paid him to take care of tons of crap which was put in the same place.
...but it was too much garbage on the same place so Earth dropped from the suns gravity and drifted straight into the black hole.
Gyro Gearloose built a space rocket that was strong enough to pull the planet back, but it needed a special fuel... all the gold in the whole world!
They filled the rocket with liquid gold and it flied off... but it wasnt strong enough, so half the planet got sucked into the black hole and the rocket prevented it from falling all in.
Since they thought that it must be something on the other side pulling the planet towards the black hole, they decided to walk into the black hole and cross the barrier.
What they saw...
...was a futuristic version of their world... with future versions of themself... with a future Scrooge that had decided to do the same thing...
