"Only 6% of COVID deaths are from COVID and the other 94% are people who died some other way but had COVID at some point. Those are the uninterpreted facts. They openly admit they are inflating the numbers because no one cares. We randomly decided to pick this pandemic to scare people over, and we'll never know why. People die every day, so it really doesn't matter. Just move on."

7 months in and I still just don't get why some typically level-headed people I know are delving into some weird conspiracy territory. It's like if someone believed QAnon was true, but shrugged it off as "bad things happen, people lie".

People that buy that shit are people who have no idea how medicine as a science actually works.
Suppose I'm in the woods, and i'm fat, diabetic, have high blood pressure and get attacked by a bear and I end up in the hospital from said bear attack. My blood pressure skyrockets, my heart is stressed from the trauma and it stops and they aren't able to restart it. I technically died because my heart stopped, but it stopping was caused by the damage from the bear attack, so I died from a bear attack.

A less convolute argument: I get stabbed. The stabbing doesn't kill me, but I lose too much blood and end up dying in the ambulance. It's going to go on my report that I died of a stabbing even though the knife isn't what killed me.

Cancer works the same way. Most people don't die from the cancer. They die from what the cancer does to their body and their organs. Their Kidneys fail, their liver fails, or their lungs or whatever. The cause of death is still fucking cancer.

Your second example makes no sense. If that's the case then no person in history has ever been stabbed to death.

Its honestly baffling that the statistic was ever reported given that the docs running the CDC 100% know that COVID should never be listed as the cause of death on a death certificate, and that the 6% number only indicates that the 6% of the doctors that took care of COVID patients who died dont know how to properly fill out death certificates

This is the exact kind of thing I tried to tell them. If someone has lung issues and they contract something that makes it hard to breathe and they die, then the new disease was a factor in their death. You can't write it off as coincidental timing. Everyone with a medical condition isn't a week away from death.

Covidiots are fucking annoying. "Herp derp, masks don't do anything! The CDC said they did, then they said they didn't, then they said they did! Can't trust them!" Its like these people have no idea how ground floor science works. New disease, no cure, no one knew anything about it. Eugh.
