So I'm trying to help my parents lower their monthly Comcast bill. They dont want a special deal or anything, they just want a smaller, cheaper plan than they have now. They got a ton of channels they dont use, extra boxes, and internet thats probably fast than what they need. The just need basic internet, cable and maybe an extra cable box.

I log into their account and... is there really NO way to do this online? Whenever I try to go to any page that sounds like they could have an option to change the plan, I get some kind of error message. "Sorry, something went wrong, please contact Support!!" Well I don't think they're sorry at al!! I'm fairly certain this isnt a real error, and they are just forcing you to call. I guess what I'm asking is, am I missing something or what?

while I don't know anything about comcast specifically, usually you can contact online support and do it there. I've found while actually calling and dealing with someone is a pain in the ass, online support generally can get things done faster with less hassles.

Nah it's a fake error to force you to call so they can try and talk you out if it.

Funny enough, I'm not even sure I saw online support on there. I'm sure they HAVE it, but usually that little text popup asking you if you need help, the thing like 99% of sites that online support do, didn't actually happen here.

You can do that stuff online but it is always better to talk to them in person and see what deals you can haggle out of them.

I pay 50/month for internet only. Every year my deal ends and they try to charge me 70 or 80 or whatever the cost is supposed to be. So I call back and lock into another year for the reduced rate.

It's a hassle every year but it saves me 240~ dollars so I consider the 1-2 hours of my time well spent.

Comcast support is designed to be a pain in the ass so that you are less likely to leave. The only easy thing to do is add services to your account.

Find another provider in the area. Call and say you're going to switch to them at their lowest rate. You might be on the phone for an hour or two but they will fold and match whatever rate you find
