So, I have a Switch and Switch Lite. I also have Fell Arbiter and Animal Crossing both downloaded digitally.

My husband has been playing Fell Arbiter on the Switch. Today, while he was playing, I turned on Animal Crossing on my Switch Lite. It kicked him off, saying the software was in use on the primary system.

But I most certainly was not playing Fell Arbiter. I was playing Animal Crossing. Am I not allowed to play two different digital games on different consoles at the same time? This seems really weird.

The long and short of it: The same Profile(NNID) is not allowed to play digital games on two different switches at once. Furthermore, a digital game can be only played by the profile who bought it if it's NOT on the system the purchase was made on.

However, for the system you actually purchased the digital game on, any profile on that physical switch can play the game.

The workaround for this (if you're both going to play on the same profile) is to keep one of your switches in airplane mode during the duration of your play. If a game doesn't have an internet component, this works well.

For my brother and I, when we wanted to play stardew valley on our switches together even though only he owns it, we were able to do that with me accessing his profile on my switch (since his profile bought the game) and him using another profile on his switch (since that was the system he purchased the game on).

Its even easier than that.

Whichever Switch is set as your Primary, which in your case would be your husbands, he doesnt need to sign YOU in for him to play your games.

My wife can play all my games on her account on her Switch, while I play my games on my Switch, and were both connected online.

I run into this limitation a lot on Steam. It's worse there because you have to enter your password each time you switch users.

Steam has a "Family Sharing" feature so you can register access to another library while staying logged in to your own account. You only ever have to actually log in/enter a password if you somehow lose the registration. (Usually the fault of a person changing hardware or something.)

Oh, I use that, I mean when either there are multiple games belonging to the same account would be used, or the same account would be used for a game on multiple computers. Steam doesn't allow either.
