The first trailers looked interesting. Then later trailers focussed on a different character and it became clear it was a completely different game from what I was expecting/hoping for and I lost all interest.

The main character constantly talking to herself and remarking on everything was pretty annoying, though.

I disagree. NieR Automata was fantastic. And while I've got varying levels of critiques for all of them, I overall enjoyed playing Bravely Default, Octopath Traveler, Kingdom Hearts III, and Final Fantasy XV.

So theres actually a pretty good game here

trapped underneath a metric ton of unnecessary bullshit. Like I get that they wanted to make it an RPG cause thats easier to monetize, but do there really need to be a dozen types of different resources to collect to upgrade gear, like five different types of currency, and so many challenges thrown at each character that its practically impossible to keep track of what youre doing?

the combat is ok but feels way too chaotic imo and since theyve balanced everything around other players dropping in and out every enemy feels like it exists to be a big damage sponge. Its a little silly that the hulk has to keep pummeling even basic enemies to defeat them

Still though Im really enjoying the single player and Im glad they were able to tell their own story instead of just adapting the MCU

in other news i picked up fallout 76 for $6 at best buy, and it turns out i'm loving it. avengers is one of those games that's on my list when it's similarly stupid cheap, because the campaign looks semi-enjoyable, ok?

Heard they cut the price of all microtransactions in half, like a month after launch. The game is decaying exponentially.

I heard all the best story bits are in the first few hours, to sort of trick reviewers into giving it better scores and to try and get players invested, but then the later story is mostly shit and the whole thing sort of devolves into endless grind and attempts to push microtransaction BS.
