One of the main points of the electoral college is to allow them to overturn a popular vote decision. Faithless electors aren't some sort of bug people abuse, it's what you're supposed to do.
If faithless electors are what shifted the election over to Trump, it would suck and the electors would be terrible people, but it wouldn't be an affront to the system we have in place. You can argue that this is yet another reason to get rid of the electoral college, which I'm sure most on the left would agree. However, this is not what Trump and the right are up to. They literally want to throw away the votes of the citizens that are for his opponent. There's a pretty huge difference between asking for the Electoral College to NOT override the will of the people when they made the right choice, and asking the Electoral College to override the will of the people to plunge America into fascism.
