id get them in my garage alot and they seem pretty chill, but I always respected their space. they'd hang upside down on my garage door rails and just stare at me as I dicked around.

They can carry disease but I haven't heard of many attacks unless they were provoked, in which case stupid person wins stupid prize. Generally if you leave them alone they won't bother you. They'll still dig through your trash and scavenge for food but they'll do their best to avoid people.

As far as petting and playing with them, a wild one will either run away or perceive it as a threat and yeah they may attack you in response if it can't get away. I wouldn't try it personally.

It's best not to approach them at all. They are scared of people, but they can and do attack, and they can also carry rabies.

There's a reason they're kalled "trash pandas". They near enough in the same family as bears and if you mess with their trash, they'll show it.
