No, but a lot of things that can be treated can also cause ringing. Might want to see a specialist.

Mine never has. I've had it my entire life. It doesn't bother me much, but that's probably because I've never known it was unusual. It really just means I need some kind of white noise at all times.

Tbh it's only noticeable like when it's super quiet like sleeping with AC on low on cool day. In the day, ambient sound mask it pretty much.

It does sometimes "flare up" and become loud, but the ambient ringing is always there but unnoticeable unless it's quiet

So what exactly does tinnitus sound like? I'm not sure if I have it. I feel like a hear a tone when I'm in complete silence, but my brain just feels like that's the sound of silence. But most of the time I don't hear it, and I only hear it now because of this topic.

kinda like that scene in saving private Ryan on the beach.

it feels like all the volume in one ear just got lowered by a tv remote, then all you hear is a ringing noise

if you suddenly hear a very loud noise, your ears will ring. high pitched "inggggggggggggggggggg" but it never really goes away

Yeah I'm pretty sure I fucked up my ears listening to loud music in my ears in middle school. Oh well, it seems minor right now and luckily I live in a world with hearing aids.

mine was extremely bad in the right ear for weeks, so bad I couldn't sleep, even listening to music was difficult, but it's slowly died down and become easier to tone out. it's still worse than it usually had been, but it's not as shrill and "loud" (even though it's not really sound, you still get a louder or softer sensation)

i'm not sure what caused/causes it to flare up so bad, because i don't think my hearing's bad, but regardless, i'm more cautious about listening to my headphones too loud.

i've heard that Flare Calmer ear inserts have helped some people with tinnitus, even though it's not designed to. They're meant to improve sound quality of things you hear by focusing the sound a certain way, so the theory is that these things re-train your brain to hear tones differently, or something. i dunno, but they're pretty cheap if anyone wants a possible aid

another good analogy for tinnitus is the high pitched drone that a CRT TV makes when you turn it on

This is pretty much where I am. I hear a kind of faint ringing sound, but only ever at night when there's no other ambient sound, and it's never loud enough to bother me or anything

Stop listening to loud music. if you cant hear as loud as you want and turn up the volume, that'll fuck up your shit too because you might not hear well but turning it way higher for you to hear "normally" would probably make a person without ear problems ear's hurt. I had it for a few months and it magically went away. Your doctor diagnosed you or yourself? Have your ears checked. Make sure theres no ear wax cause it can cause tinnitus too. Don't listen to any type of media or sound for a while.

I still don't really believe anyone hears true silence. I think they just don't count the constant background ringing as noise. I didn't start listening to loud shit until a few years ago but I've had ringing in my ears my whole life

I've had it since I was like 16, well that's when I noticed it anyway so maybe its been longer. Kind of messed me up for a couple months but then I just got used to it. I'm 32 now and don't really notice it unless I'm in absolute silence.
