Yeah I mean even compared to emulation, it's the definitive way to play OoT. There's also gyro aiming, which is really really good for this game.

Didnt they change the water temple in the 3DS version ?

I havent opened my copy of Majoras Mask 3DS, is it worth opening ?

On a technical level and regarding quality of life improvements, yes.

But it's the original I keep coming back to, because I dislike the lighthearted artstyle of the remake. The original looks darker, grittier and somber, which fits the atmosphere and setting of Adult Link's timeline.

Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask moodier and grittier looks are so good that it got people demanding Nintendo for a dark Zelda (which pushed them to make Twilight Princess, with degrees of success that are best left for another discussion)

Yeah.

MM3DS changed more and is more hit or miss for people. I personally find like 80% of MM3DS's changes to be for the best, with swimming being the only big big miss. I think it's the better version overall.

I...don't remember them changing it. Are you thinking about how Nintendo changing how you equip boots made going through the Water temple in the 3DS version less tedious?

The only thing they changed was making a few puzzles more clear (like zooming to the basement being opened in the middle tower when you raise the water).

Anyways, yeah 3D is the best way to play OoT, MM is a completely different story tho

The 3DS is a huge improvement on frame rate, controls, and quality of life changes. The atmosphere is much worse though.

As a person who has every physical edition/version of Ocarina of Time minus the grey 1.1 N64 cart, 100% YES

The Majora's Mask remake not only screwed up swimming, but they also made the boss fights into what are essentially parodies of a Zelda boss fights the bosses now have phases where they grow a giant eye and need to be attacked there

the remake blew my tiny little mind more than the original did. probably in part cuz i was much older, but also deff that 3D. i know i'm in the minority but i thought that was easily the coolest gimmick i've ever seen
