...rise of a young, power-hungry autocratic leader.

The country would be fictional of course and the story would probably be set in a sort of floating timeline with an aesthetic similar to the early-mid 20th century, drawing inspiration from a whole bunch of autocratic rulers/countries in that time period.

Would you say it's an appropriate time for a show like this or would it be a "too soon" or "too on the nose" thing?

Keeping in mind I'm not interested in dramatizing the Trump era, though similarities in some respects might be unavoidable.

I have a pitch meeting with a network in the new year and I'm starting to brainstorm some stuff. Found myself drawn to this kinda idea.
