it happened in an AMA. Someone complained about the loot box mechanics in Star Wars Battlefront and the employee said something like we want players to have a sense of pride and accomplishment

people kept giving the comment Reddit gold to balance out the downvotes and keep it from being purged, just so they could downvote it even more.

it was pretty hilarious at the time, but Reddit karma is worthless and that employee likely had no actual control over the inclusion of loot boxes, so it was the gamer equivalent of yelling at a customer service rep over the phone.

the actual comedy is when people started circulating clickbait propaganda graphics and got #disneygambling to trend on Twitter, which eventually lead to them taking out the loot boxes.
