I love speculating on alternate universe/what if? stuff

Off the top of my head

• He probably wins reelection in 2016 because of an (at the time) decent economy
• Democrats probably hold on to the Senate after 2014 since midterms usually favor the party out of power
• No Donald Trump, or at the very least he doesn't become a nationally prominent political figure. IIRC after 2012 he toyed with running against Cuomo in NY, so I imagine he does that. Probably fails.
• Paul Ryan probably runs for President this year, dunno if he'd win the Republican primary or the general election though.
• While I dislike Romney he's not quite the motivating force that Trump is so Iunno if the backlash to him would've been enough to sweep Democrats back into the House

Dunno how Romney'd have handled COVID-19, or what he'd have done with foreign policy.

Also dunno what happens with this wave of populism that Trump rode in on. Does it still radicalize the GOP or does it find more of a home with the Democrats since they're the party out of power?

Tea Party would've probably become more of a thing. Id like to think that Romney wouldn't have welcomed them into mainstream Republican party like Trump did though. Ryan I'd be more concerned about doing so.

So, hypothetically the Republican party would've split some into some third party. Or they'd embrace libertarians or something. That'd be interesting to say the least.
