I think it's important to be careful how we classify, lest we lead to segregation in terms of what's "good" and what's "not good".

Sex work is any work where someone gets paid for providing sexual pleasure to another, whether directly or indirectly.

Trying to draw a hard line between physical contact and non-physical contact is something I don't approve of.

"Swimsuit models are sex workers" doesn't sound right to me tbh

Allow me to clarify in that "providing sexual pleasure" is the intent of the sex worker. Direct means contact with the customer. Indirect means the customer engages separately with their work. It has nothing to do with "hey I find X hot does that mean X is sex work?"

So in that regard, it's gray for swimsuit models. If the point of a swimsuit model is to advertise a women's swimsuit for sale, that's not sex work, but if they're posing for the purpose of their bodies being shown off in a suggestive manner while wearing a swimsuit, that's sex work.

And the point is that if you are engaged in sex work of any kind, there's no particular shame. The actual "not sounding right" to you is the problem.

If there are children working in a VS factory, I'd say the greater concern is child labor, not that what their making is meant for sex.

But someone who is manufacturing lingerie is contributing to sex, so yes by definition it's sex work. The same as if they were making sex toys.
