I don't know how they'll be. Gonna need to see a hand specialist on Monday.

My sister had dropped something on the floor while we were all at the dinner table. I moved my hand near the dog to keep him away. He was not even near or looking in the direction yet, but he latched onto my left wrist. I moved my right hand in either an attempt to stop him or out of shock and he went and bit me right in that palm.

My right hand is stitched and in pain but I have full movement of my fingers. Just lots of weakness. I have multiple puncture on my left wrist and one near my ulnar nerve has left me unable to move my pinky or ring finger. Blood flow is fine and I have slight feeling in the tips, but I am stuck doing that Jesus blessing when I try to extend them, and there's numbness in the palm.

Unusual for a dog to bite you that hard like that.

At 10 years old, just put him down. The dog is now a proven danger. Imagine if he bites a 3 year old like that

I dont know why he did it. I know you don't fuck with a dog while they're eating, but this was nothing like that. He never does this, obviously. IDK what we're doing with him. Hospital reported it to animal control and all they said was quarantine him for 10 days since he's vaccinated.

I think it was wrapped chocolate candies and like I said he wasn't even responding yet and didn't even growl. I was trying to be proactive before he got over there.

Should have just distracted him with a cookie...

With a well-trained dog, you should be able to take their food away anytime. Even while eating.

Don't blame yourself. The dog is old and doesn't understand anymore

Yeah, fuck that dog.

You gotta put him down, dude. I love all of my pets but if any one them tried that bullshit with me then it's their ass, real quick.

Now you have to disinfect the damage routinely and the trust you once had between you and him is broken. There's no reason to keep him around, especially if your kids are near him at all times.

I met up with a chick a few weeks ago and as soon as she opened the door her dog bit me.

Not exactly mauled, but he drew blood.

That dog now loves me, but it took a few weeks for us to get used to each other.

Don't know who you're referring to, but don't give a fuck.

I'd rather be called that and have my children be safe from an animal whos supposedly there to look after us (not bite the hand of the master that feeds and shelters him), than take my chances again and risk their lives because someone outside of my family might call me some spooky name.

Hell naw. I want that thing outta here lickety-split.

It's actually not that uncommon to do this to dogs when they show that much aggression.

It's because the animal is now proven dangerous. Again, imagine if this dog snaps on like a 3 year old. Dude, your ass would be sued and the worst part is, you'd definitely lose the case.

If you decide that you don't care about the safety of others and have the financial means to survive such an incident, more power to ya.

This. I posted about my idiot neighbors' pitbull getting loose and attacking my dog and I a month or so back. I am suing the ever loving fuck out of them, and have zero empathy over them potentially losing their house over it. $250k lawsuit, I work from home as an artist and can prove my losses/income so we're going big. Fuck em.

I'm sure you love him/her but dont keep a biting dog especially over some puppy level bullshit like that. You should be able to reach in a good dogs mouth and take their food, my bull terrier let's me take his dish anytime (I usually put scraps or treats in mid feeding to reinforce this) when he's eating and I can put my whole hand in his mouth if need be lol

Also this will fuck you hard if it bites again, the dog is probably now noted as being vicious and if it bites, say, a utility person or your kids friend you're beyond screwed if the victim/parents want to sue.

Yea fuck that. Dogs can be our friends and family but when they cross that line and become dangerous, it's time to go.
Like others have said, what if it was a child's face instead of an adults hand (not trying to downplay the severity of your injury. I hope you fully recover).
I dunno, put the dog down? give it to someone who can work with aggressive dogs? Either way, it's gotta go and it's gotta go now.
