A Wikipedia read suggests it's the apparent of God that is incompatible, not the texts themselves. It's a somewhat Gnostic viewpoint in that respect, and one that is at least interesting.

He was probably one of the privileged few like myself to know for a fact that the god in each testament is actually a different one

Both testaments of the Bible are interesting in their own right. I grew up on two different religions since my parents belonged to different churches and it's amazing just how often the old testament and the new testament contradict each other.

One of the most memorable examples is the ten commandments. The Old Testament ten commandments are different than the New Testament ten commandments, where it's claimed that they were rewritten and modernized. One of the reasons for this was to justify observing Sundays instead of Saturdays when the commandments dictated to "observe the Sabbath". It's been many years so I don't remember all the finer details but that stuck out to me, as my mom's religion went to church on Saturdays and my dad's religion went to church on Sundays and there would often be arguments about it based on the Bible.

Seventh day Adventist ITT?

Exegesis fascinated me, although I have no interest in Christianity as a belief system.

Gee, it's almost as if they were written by people to control the masses or something.

Probably more of a translation or interpretation issue. The Bible is pretty amazing in terms of continuity.

I had a conversation with a Gnostic over 20 years and it's stuck with me ever since.
