It would literally be quicker for me to delete a game and redownload it then to patch it and sit through "Copying..."

The fact that Sony still insist that you need more space then the size of the game to DL it while this has never been an issue in XBOX.

PSN is also the slowest network ever. Doesn't get anywhere close to my download speeds like Steam and other services do.

My speeds are fine. Copying is the weird bullshit. Uninstalling a game and downloading it actually lets you skip Copying, which can easily take 10 times longer than the download itself. I feel like upgrading to big boy speeds made this more noticeable to me.

every update has you copying the whole game

they made the change to avoid file corruption apparently.

So, your PS4 has downloaded the update file for, say, Call of Duty: Warzone. It then needs to install it, and it does this by basically copying the whole game file, and adds the patch in the process. The benefit of this method is that it helps to prevent file corruption.

Copying for me is usually fine except for small updates. Shit that's like 400MB will take like 30 minutes for a game update to copy it's weird.

or Switch, or PC. Its a problem unique to PlayStation

I remember when I mentioned it on the PS4 board after needing 50gb for a 25ish GB game and the fanboys went ballistic at me.

Wait really? I've never tried this but I'll start doing it if it actually helps, since copying does usually take more time than an entire game download/install from scratch. I always figured that if you uninstall a game and then download it again, you still have to download the updates separately for the game afterward, thus still having to deal with the whole copying bullshit again. If you uninstall/redownload, does it just come with the latest updates baked in already?

Last week I downloaded an update patch for Nioh 2. Was 90mb. Took 3 - 6 seconds to download.

Took longer than 10 minutes to "copy" afterwards.
