Omg, this stuff is so boring to me. More power to you guys who enjoy programming and doing it for a living.

Also, I signed up 3 hours ago and they've already sent me 3 spam emails, wtf.

You learn that stuff, you can get paid big bucks for warming up a chair lmao.

The prospect isn't as appealing as it seems though, believe it or not, but it's definitely an option

Why do you have to take it? And why on codeacademy?

I like codeacademy. I used it a few years ago for teaching my students R stuff.

Because it was what was assigned in my class

What class are you taking that was assigning that though? Idk how grad school works and if it's like undergrad where you take stuff that you aren't interested in, I'd assume it's a lot more focused though.

And I thought programming was cool for a while but it's gotten old for me. It is fun to write stuff out and make a working solution out of it. But like anything when you solve the same problems over and over again it gets old.

Codecademy is kinda lame though IME cause they basically just tell you what to write. And a lot of rudimentary courses are just writing hello worlds that aren't very exciting

Its crazy you can pay tuition to a university for them to tell you to go take a course in code academy. I guess its really not too different than telling you to get a textbook. Still odd to me though.

Yeah, its kinda silly, its like if a piano teacher pressed your fingers down for you.

It's an intro to IT for library professionals course. We have to do a lot of database management and maintenance in the field so they want us to have a small idea of the backend.

Ah yeah, when you put it that way, it seems kinda funny, though I'm guessing it's kind of an ancillary thing and this isn't a proper programming class.

I remember in college for a couple courses they made us use Matlab even though we had no coursework on it, you were pretty much just on your own to figure it out

Javascript is evil and shouldn't exist.
I feel bad for you.

Like I seriously hate webdev with all of my mind, body and soul.

Pretty much how it was for me. Wed get an assignment, get a warning we had to know basic programming and a couple weeks, and then wed google and find resources like codeacademy (or whatever the equivalent was) on our own. Office hours there if you needed help.

Same thing, I guess.
