i did once, even though it was accompanied by the master guiding its lash. it was a lot harder than i thought. it's like riding a bike that has a mind of its own, and the balancing is pretty hard too.

Nope. Sidenote, I never realized how scary horses can be. I never really took into account how heavy and muscular they are and then I saw a video of a horse suplexing a guy and it made me realize that probably broke his back <_<

Yeah, family friend has a few horses we'd ride in the late summer and early fall.

Yeah. And it was my friends, so there wasn't any guide. At one point we when full gallop and it was scary as hell. Not know how to command it myself was so sketchy. I basically just had to trust she would pay attention to my friend commanding three different horses at once.

I hate those monsters. Got thrown off of one when I was a kid and crashed down through a play house thing. Of course I tried again with another horse and he threw me off and I crashed landed through some wood. I said that's it where's my bb gun? but I was quickly stopped and the horse took off, and I said "Good I hope he never comes back!". Then I had a juice box and settled down a little.

Yeah, dad used to raise/train and breed horses. He actually went so far as to have our place registered as a horse ranch. So the first 20 years or so of my life, it mostly revolved around horses.

I owned horses.

Honestly thought roaring around on a dirt bike was scarier... the air you would get going through the ditches and hitting a turn off was insane.

my grandparents owned horses and I visited very often when I was a kid but I never rode one. I barely even ever touched them. to be honest I'm kinda terrified of horses, they're so big and they just move kinda unpredictably I always feel like they could just walk into me and knock me over at basically any time without even noticing

Yeah. We spent a week at a dude ranch in my teens. I didn't enjoy the horse riding part. It was also my first time seeing mountains. My mom got thrown off her horse, thankfully on flat ground and not on a mountain path.

I spent most of the week hanging out with my cousin and playing my GBA.

I have but like a million years ago.
I know plenty of horse people though.
Most are either fucking awesome...or not.

Anyway, all things aside, I think it's amazing what Jokeys pull off.
Literally, people who might weigh like 100 pounds, controlling like a 2000 pound animal at speeds potentially exceeding 45 miles an hour, several times a day, and for a while here 6 days a week.

I think they are the only athletes that are actively be chased by an ambulance during the event.
