doom 2016 was perfect. it's doomguy's "i don't give a fuck" and with good amount of backstory in the character's dialogue that actually care about the events.

eternal just shove us Tl;DR badly written codex that read like metal lyrics made by 15 years old and suddenly doomguy care about the story now?

Yeah it's pretty fucking cringy and awful, played through it once and deleted the game. If Hugo Martin has any involvement in the next game it's going to be a pass for me.

When I got to stage 2, I was saying to myself "whaaaaat the hell is all this?" The futuristic high fantasy worldbuilding did not fit at all, and Doom Slayer didn't need any elaborate backstory.

2016 added more story and it was ok. Then eternal retconned it and it ended having a shithole of loopholes, I am not impressed.

Yeah, all the extra story and lore was lame. Doom doesnt need that.

I actually am playing Doom Eternal right now. My first Doom game ever. I have no idea whats going on but Im having a blast tearing through waves of enemies.

You can skip all the cut scenes. If you dont like it just skip it.
